Thanks. We went to McDonald's in Concord 1st but after our slow ride home (couldn't do more than 55) we got home at 11.

Took a little wheelin' trip with the boy yesterday. He wanted to check out the flex, so he took this pic:

After some easy trails, we hit up a pond to throw rocks. This is his man pose:

17s?!?!?!?!?! Can't do it...not enough malls to crawl 'round here!

I may be upgrading to 33s soon. If so, expect cheap 235s coming your way! I have put a hurting on em though thats for sure...lol Maybe 10,000-15,000 let in em.

We need to ride again soon! I was thinking of doing an "Up at Dawn" sunday morning run sometime soon.

Actually, it was quite a bit of work getting ready for it. I bought this book:

    https://www.arrl.org/shop/ARRL-Ham-Radio-License-Manual-3rd-Edition/

I read through the book, highlighting all of the possible questions. There are 400+ possible questions all listed in the back. After that I started taking practice exams and looking up things I didn't know. I also, re-read the whole book and had a number of sessions where I went through all 400+ questions, keeping track of the ones I still didnt know. I probably put in an average of 2 to 3 hours a day for three weeks. I was probably over-prepared, but I am a professor after all...lol Got a 100 too!

So, in short, if your disciplined, you don't need to take the course. I just studied and took the exam. It cost 15 bucks and took me 20mins.

After talking with a bunch of guys, I am definitely getting a mobile and not a handheld. The handhelds just don't have great range for what I want to do.

I am thinking of buying an ICOM 2300h 2 meter radio. The sky's the limit with mobile ham radio really. They have some crazy cool setups.

For exams, go here and enter a zip code. There are tests all over.
