Huntington Beach Toyota was jerking me around about the parts . Called several times on the phone and even the parts department told me there was only one set of springs for the double cab long bed. Nobody would acknowledge the technical service bulletin Springs.

My service advisor is a special kind of idiot. Once I'm done with this this will be the last time I deal with him.
Not willing to leave his desk and go ask a question to the service tech.

Finally got pissed today and call Toyota customer service. Their system is showing the dealer ordered the correct parts for the technical service bulletin replacement springs . Hopefully when they do finally come in they won't put the wrong sets on. Gentlemen on customer service assured me that they wouldn't screwed up. Asked him to send a note to the dealer just to make sure we will see how it all turns out.

I got the new springs installed on my 2005 and gained about a 1/2 inch higher, the ride is a little firmer but handles better, I like them. I asked the service guy if they would install some like new shocks I got from a 2016 and he checked and said around $90 bucks, I told him I'll change them myself, took me about 30 min.

Took mine by the dealership yesterday to do the inspection. They said it does need them, so they ordered them and said 2-3 weeks to get them in.

Soooo I just called and they said if I have a lift in the back that they can't reinstall the lift. I only have icon suspension and an extra leaf spring so I don't think it will be a problem?

You'll be low in the rear, but if your not stuffing bigger wheels under it you should have the space to make it home and install the leaf yourself. That sucks they wont install it. They reinstalled my leaf(with a price). Even though they said they couldn't when I first showed up.

I got mine done last Saturday. It took about two weeks from the date the parts manager ordered the leafs to when the arrived at the dealership. The install took about two hours total. I measured before and after, and the rear is about 1/8" lower from the original springs. This is on a 2009 TRD DC Sport with original leaf springs in them. It seems like it rides a bit smoother in back, but maybe that's just me wanting it to be that way.

I would've refused delivery! Give me my free loaner, call me when you have it right. Or should we just call corporate right now?

Been waiting since the last week in MAY! I was told 2 weeks! Must be some sort of standard answer or code for "whenever" Meanwhile my truck continues to sag and I get to experience "axle wrap" and wheel hop (installing shocks with the springs).

I was told 2-3 week wait, for them to order the springs. Well that was 4 weeks ago, still haven't heard anything. Shit like this pisses me off. If we were paying to have them replaced, they'd have them in stock at every dealership.

Installed Overhead Compass and Temperature Display along with outside temperature sensor and wiring; LED lights reverse backup; LED license plate lights; Added GTA Bluetooth Audio kit to stock radio for iphone audio; Spare tire steel braided air hose extension connection to rear bumper; Installed new headlights along with new bulbs PIAA H4 XTreme and for fog lights PIAA H10 XTreme bulbs. Installed new hood with "hood-scoop". Installed Predator Side Steps. Replaced front chrome grill with customized color matched (Desert Sand Mica) grill with added TOYOTA lettering (also in matched color), installed and secured tailgate anti-theft devices. Also installed a new external TPMS monitor for all 4 tires.
I lucked out recently on having my 2008 Tacoma leaf springs replaced a couple of weeks back.

As we all well know, the recall notice instructs us to call the dealership to first setup an "appointment" for an "inspection" first right. Well after I had done just that, the day that I was scheduled I drive up, have recall notice in my hand, ask to speak with the Service Manager about having an appointment for the recall notice.
His response is "sure" and explains to me that first they are going to have to inspect the vehicle first then have to order the "leaf springs" then setup another appointment to have them installed.
(At this point I think to myself fuck if they know that Toyota has a recall on this why don't they already have plenty of those leaf spring parts available, on hand, at the same time I think that Toyota dealerships deliberately do this to fustrate customers and maybe they just won't come back?...who really knows for sure right).
The Service Manager then tells me that it will take about 1 hour to do the inspection, I simply say sure, fine then walk away to the dealerships waiting room, sit down and wait.

(Now I had taken the day off just for this particular reason. When I first called they didn't offer me a choice on the day they just said that, that particular date/time was what they had available at that time. If not then I was going to have to wait a couple more weeks for another appointment, all bulllshit stuff that I know dealerships like to dish out to customers, etc.)

Anyway, after about 45 mins or so of waiting I get a call from the Service Manager on my phone and he starts to explain to me that they had done a previous inspection for a customer's Tacoma about a month or so ago and had already ordered the leaf springs, parts, etc. for them but when they had called to setup an appointment date for installation the customer told them that they had since sold the Tacoma, so they had them in stock, waiting for the next customer to inspect and install.

So he explains to me that if I had the time today, that they could install them on my Tacoma but that it would take around 3 hours total time to perform the job.

I'm thinking fuck ya go for it!...I Tell him sure, start on it, heck I'll wait it out. Sure enough they did and once they handed me my keys back, I get in my Tacoma and drive off and I quickly could tell the difference in the ride and handling of my Tacoma. What an improvement! Rides like it was brand new, the way I remember the first time I drove it off the lot when I first bought it!

So yes, once the leaf springs are replaced with the new ones, you will definitely (at least in my opinion) feel the difference on your ride!

Good Luck to all you Tacoma drivers on getting your leaf springs replaced for free with the recall!
