Anyone on here get their leaf springs replaced? I'm currently running an aal and there is a recall or the lead springs on 05-09 tacomas. The dealer wants me to pay 250$ to get them replaced. I thought recalls were payed for by the dealer?

There was a TSB that was something about replacing lead springs due to them not being able to hold he weight that was listed and trucks with those leafs were supposed to be brought in to a dealer to get them replaced at no cost to customer. On the door to my truck, I have a yellow sticker that was put on after the fact (but before I bought it) that is a reduced weight capacity which exempts me from getting the springs replaced. My truck is also 2011. As far as exact details on getting the leaf pack changed out and who qualifies, I don't know the criteria for it.

    Its getting there....

Not going to lie though, CBI doesn't send any instructions on how to install their bumpers so it's kind of a PITA. Also I chucked the sway bar bolts when I removed the sway bar long ago so I had to go pick some new ones up at the hardware store and of course I bought the wrong size. Good times.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
3 years ago I had some extra money and was being forward thinking, so I bought all of the materials to assist a friend that "has done roofing" in re-roofing my house. I saved $2K in labor over having a pro do it. There was one leak, which he fixed.

A month ago there was a really heavy downpour...and minutes later...drip...drip...drip from my master bedroom ceiling. My friend is out of ideas and said it was time to call a pro. So I called Roof Life of Oregon to get an estimate to fix the leak.

They sent me a video showing me everything that was done wrong with the roof, ending with the whole roof needs replaced because it's just going to keep leaking.

So...saved $2K and their estimate is $15-16.5K for tearoff and replace. Going to get 4 or 5 more quotes, but...

    FML.

Damn. Sorry to hear that man. I reroofed my rental house 4 years ago and it's still going strong. It had the original shake plus two layers of composition. I had to tear it all off, sheet it all in plywood, and then put the roofing on. I swore I'd never do it again. Fast forward 4 years to right now and my current house has the same situation - original shake (built in 1902) plus two worn out layers of composition. This time I'm paying for it to be done professionally. They start this coming monday and it's costing me roughly 7k.

Roofing blows man. Even if you know what you are doing the potential for leaks is there. In this market, I think renting is better than owning. It's not like the housing market is going to get any better, we are at the top of a bubble.

On another note; any of you local guys know of anyone looking for a smokin' deal on a built taco? https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/firesale-2005-trd-offroad-15k.453174/

Seth, sorry to hear about the roof. I've got a text off to my uncle to see if he would even head that far south, then I can try to get some estimates from him for you too.

I actually just had mine reroofed. Took them a fing year to get to it since that was theie back log. Other companies were 6+ months around me too. Crazy busy. I'd thought of doing it myself but after seeing these guys do it....f that. They worked 7am to 4pm with two crews with an overlap (both only worked 8 hours). Took them a day and a half to do. Would have taken me 2 or 3 weekends to do it myself. Plus no cleanup, no hauling to the dump, no arranging delivery of shingles/estimating what I need, and no being bent over all day. Best part....25 year warranty through them.

I'm just saying, tearing off the old shit is easy. It's the fixing stuff and reinstall that sucks.
