I prefer the non painted fenders hands down. Would be one of my first mods on a Limited if I got one. Just personal preference though.

They used to have matte black trim on the T4R trail editions and it looked great. I was disappointed when I found out they no longer do that.

Im looking to get the off-road black plastic flares on my sport. I was on eBay and stumbled upon this. The part numbers are the same, but one is non painted (off road) and the other is painted (sport). So I'm still confused to which ones I need. Anyone?

Not sure I get it? If you want your color matched flares on your TRD Sport then why not just paint them? The cost is minimal. I'm ordering a Super White TRD Sport and as soon as it hits my driveway I'm going to Plasti-Dip the fender flares Black. As well as the front bottom plastic part of the front bumper. Also will immediately take out the grille and Plasti-Dip the plastic chrome Black and the chrome bezel.

What's great about Plasti-Dip is you can see what it looks like and if you like it you can spray paint it permanently or just keep it Plasti-Dipped. It will last for years and years and can be retouched if ever necessary. Best part, if you don't like it JUST PEEL IT OFF. It's like a thin layer of rubber that can be removed with no damage to the paint underneath.

I've used it many times. Works great. Although I'm still debating whether I'll just replace the grille with the new TRD Pro Grille.

I'd give Plasti-Dip a try, cost like $6 a can, you need six coats or so, the more coats the easier it will peel off if you ever choose to do so. Four flares, two cans should be plenty. So $12 and you can see how it will look.

My hubby did the trim on my Crosstrek, he thought it was too much white and needed something to break it up. See if I can post a pic of it.

Can anyone confirm this? I was browsing Partznet and stumbled upon this... The $144 one says " W/FR SPOILER PARTS: Paint to match". Wouldn't this mean part number 04060 are the prepped/primed fenders ready for paint? So if I wanted the OFF ROAD style black plastic fenders I would need 04900??

Decided to paint my fender flare black with plastidip, very satisfied with the result! Fender flare can be remove easily but be careful when you pull them, those little pins broke easily and you need to pull very hard.

Double check, but I don't believe you can buy them from Toyota already color matched.

With the factory application Toyota stamps out if you will several square type holes in the body to hold fasteners I guess for the flares. Might be an involved project. When I had my 2016 SR5 I actually bought a set of the TRDOR (black) type but sent them back when I discovered the above. Traded the truck and now have a TRDOR for other reasons but now it's mute point

    AWESOME JOB!!!

Love that IO look Blackedout. So how long to remove just one flare? Also, did you have to order new pins for the ones that broke?

Not sure how the pins work? Do they just snap into the flare? I'll have to check YouTube and see if anyone has posted vids.

I'm getting a White Sport, and top of my list is this same mod. Really really really thought about going with the IO but it's a Younger Mans truck IMO. 20/30/40s. I'm past that......LOL

Any plans to do the Front section (the piece where the license plate mounts) like on the OFf Road model? That's on my list too, Fender Flares and that front bumper piece, all at the same time.

I was debating on whether or not to remove the flares, it's seems like it would be easy enough to do them mounted. Just lots of taping off. I know it's always better and easier to do them once removed.

Again, Great Job! Absolutely love it.

It took me about 4 hours to remove them all, paint, and put back on.

Those littles pins clip on the fender and when you put the fender back on the truck you just need to push on it and it will clip. I've search on others page and youtube to see how to remove them but don't remember where i've found this video.

I've already did the front section before but i prefered the colormatch one so i removed it. This part is also easy to take off but there are 2 blue clip on each side that are a pain in the ass to remove.

Thanks for all the info. The grille came out great too! Hmm, wow, I like the front bumper piece in Black, something about that color contrast that just pops!

Just watched a couple vids on plasti dipping the fender flares. Think I'll try them attached, don't want to risk breaking any clips/pins.

    Again, thanks!

i think there is a big enough gap to do them attached and have it still give you a clean line on removal

Did you replace the double sided tape or was it re-usable?

Each to their own. I can't stand the black fender flares, personally. The trucks look cleaner with matching fenders. I get the utility purpose with off-roading, but it's not my thing.
