Pelfreybilt Hi-Clearance Rear Bumpers

Four gallon is the long unit with two attachment slots...?
I put a 3 gallon unit there, have thought about stacking two 3gals, but that kind of extension does not seem right.
My experience with the 4 gal is that it's PITA to use and mount. But if you got the right mounting space....

 

Thinking of making a bracket that extends up for it on the supplied Pelfrey rotopax mount. They're thinner than the 3gallon and for the price and with of rotopax I'm leaning towards mounting two 4gallon rotopax back there. Just a thought. Still brain storming.

 

Speaking of HC, I've been real good with my swing gate the past year, but screwed up two days ago and drove off with it unlatched....the swing gate swung out and the hinge pin dropped into place and bent itself to a non usable shape.
I was able to unthread the pin unit and thus close the gate. Found a 'lifting eye bolt' that will work temporarily until I figure out how to get @Pelfreybilt to re-source me a new unit

 

Bummer man. I've given specific training on how to use the gate with anyone that may operate it. Got a picture of the bent pin?

 

I noticed on your website that you changed the back-up lights that are spec-out to be installed, any particular reason for this? Is it still possible to get the Rigid cutouts? I am just curious so I can plan for what I am going to eventually buy when fundage allows. Thanks

 

Kool and good luck on that....I think a four gallon unit would work well mounted on the bed rack. Prob there for me is my old pelfreybilt aluminum bedrack is not tall enough to fit a four gallon unit between the bed rail and the RTT. Admittedly I did not request any mounting option on the bedrack.
I've thought about mounting two 3 gal units edge wise on swing gate, but the 4 gals unit stays at home for now

 

was just out in the dark checking my 4 gals, does have three slot mounts, 36 inches long, longer than my 285 spare is tall. the standard mounting from pelfreybilt is too low in my opinion for a four gal mount, so you'd want to mount it as far up the swing gate as you could. now you got me thinking I may look into a 4 gal solution on the gate. I saw someone mount their 'maxtrax' onto their spare seemed too tall...

 

I can get something going as well. For the price I'd rather just go 2 4 gallon rotopax than a 3 gallon tank x 2

We run Baja Designs lights and make the bumpers for those lights. We no longer offer cut outs for Rigid lights.

I'm picking up some 315/75r16 wheels soon. I have your high clearance bumper with the swingout. will the swingout accommodate this tire size

Thanks. thought it would, just wanted to double check before going up In tire size. I'm running Dakars withe add a leaf. do you think I'll have to cut bumper back some to avoid rubbing when I stuff the tires or do you think the space will b enough?

 

I didhnt have to cut any off mine to stuff them, you should be alright.

It's probably in here, but can you lock the gate? If so, how? Pictures?

 

Man, that's a major thing for me. I definitely need to be able to lock the gate.

 

Ate you guys worried about the gate being stolen? If so, I challenge anyone to pull the gate once installed.
