I am thinkin about buying a 4runner with my brother it is used 1998 with 220k miles. We mostly want to use it for off roading and not as a daily it s a 4x4 manual v6 paint is okay. The clutch was replaced like at 180k miles what do you guys think I should check for. there asking about 5k for it.

 

Rust?

$5k seems a bit much to me, but I'm not really sure on your local market

 

San Diego there isnt much rust and I dont plan on paying 5k was gonna try to offer 3.2k if everything looked good tires,clutch,engine compression, oil, breaks, ect. does 3k sound fair?

 

depends, seems like most people selling their used cars think they are all sitting on a goldmine and don't want to move off of their price. I would certainly shoot for around that price.

 

Yeah im not to worried if they don't want to sell at 3k, there is plenty other cars out there, but im more curious if there is anything I should look for beside the usual stuff. The thing looks like fun plus if I get stuck off roading in my 2x4 my brother can pull me out lol
