I just got my windows tinted and paid good money for carbon tint. I noticed these gaps on the inside edge of the rear windows. Is this acceptable or a lazy job? I hate it.

I would not accept that if I paid for a mid to high end job.

100% unacceptable. And I'm not one with a hair trigger to complain about things.

Just curious...is that gap on all windows? If so that's a weird technique. Tint is cut by using outside of window and then put inside and extra tint tucked into those areas.

It's just the rear windows on the inside edge and around the latch on the slider. I didn't notice it until I was driving and looked into my rearview where there is a noticeable amount of light creeping in from these cracks. These edges don't have any rubber to tuck into though.

If anyone can give me pics of a better job, I'd appreciate it. It was done by a detail shop that I've got my cars washed and detailed at for years. Never had them do tint and they bring someone in to do it. Everything else looks good. It's just these edges suck.

Looks almost as if since there wasn't any rubber to tuck under, they placed the tint to the edge of the window and just cut it. Looks almost like the thickness of a standard work blade.

Looks like the guy who normally does the tint wasn't there. Not a good tint application.

I would not be happy with those results. This is exactly what I am afraid of..... I want my rear windows tinted (to match the topper), but my options (shops) are limited to one (Unless I am willing to drive 100 miles).

OP: Hope it works out for you.

Nope not at all. I go to a guy who has won awards in the Vancouver area so I wouldn't have any glaring mistakes like that.

Street legal tint if any Vanilla are interested. Ask for Nix.

Make'em do it over at your free time expense OR if you're good with a sharpie do it yourself. Since it is next to a straight edge should be simple and clean. I did this in a spot by my latch I didn't get perfect but I only spent money on tint, no labor.

Unacceptable. I had the Exact same issue when I got my rear tint done. Noticed it in my rear view mirror as I was driving home. I brough it in a few days later and they fixed it no charge. Part of the worksmanship warranty there.

Yeah, if I paid someone else to do it I would get it redone at my leisure.

I had a tint shop put down some nano ceramic for my vw gti last year. I inpected it, first thing I notice was the gap. I said nope, that's not gonna fly. Exchange some words and he redid it the next day. If they are a legit shop, they know what they did wrong, don't take their shit.

Tint side to side on the window should be complete, I've seen and have where the top of the glass that drives into the weather stripping be left off, as to avoid future rubbing, but wherever the light is constantly coming in from (side to side) should be fully tinted. If I'm seeing the image right.
