I just hit 155k and i think my clutch was slipping on the way home last night. I should probably plan to have it replaced before the snow flies but am wondering what clutch i should go with? I have heard the job itself can run you from $1000 to $2000 which is completely ridiculous but what can you do? I have had entire transmissions rebuilt for less than that and the clutch is a consumable part that is designed to be replaced.

Anyway will probably bring it in to get it done at some point. I am wondering if this something you just go to the dealer to do and put in oem parts or should i trust an outside shop to put in what i want?

SHould i stick with OEM or are there better aftermarket clutches i should consider that hold up? IM mostly city and highway driving at this point.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Personally, I'd stick with OEM (Aisin) clutch.

So. It either is or isn't. It's not that hard to tell. Load test it to be sure you have a problem before starting to drop your sheckles.

:goingcrazy: But for sure you want to refresh everything that's exposed while it's apart, so you don't have to go back in for something simple later.

Never. At the dealer I mean. OEM parts are fine. They got you here didn't they?

Well, maybe if the tech is your brother (and he's not a bobble head) and the service manager is your best hunting buddy, they both actually like you, and give you employee pricing.

thanks for the replies. Im going to look around for a transmission shop here in minneapolis to have the work done most likely. This morning the truck seemed ok in 1.5 hours of stop and go traffic in and out of 1st and 2nd the whole way.
Last night on the way home in the same conditions i could swear it was slipping so i babied it lightly all the way home. I checked the slave cylinder to make sure i was full and it is at or just a hair below the min line. I have fluid on order and will top this up when it arrives. Not sure that will make much of a difference but its needed. IF it truely is starting to slip id like to get it replaced before the snow flies.
