Lessons from Europe: If you can't do parkour...don't freakin do parkour. If you must do parkour, don't do it while traveling to Munich Gemany.image.jpgimage.jpg

image.jpg It was a slight fracture on the lower outside bone in my ankle, not weight bearing so I'm walking around in an air cast, with some torn tendons and a fractured ankle but it doesn't hurt that bad, just stiff.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Here is a sampling from my 4 days in Aarhus Denmark. Saw the Friggate Jyllard, had a picknick lunch with Danish pasteries by a lighthouse in the bay, biked around downtown with some bsu exchange students on a green fixie and my broken ankle, saw the Aarhus art meuseum, did trivia with my buddy and saw a lot of blues brothers around.

    Hamburg: Germany

Off to Hamburg, first stop on my solo hostel stage. Beautiful city, with a rich history of destruction, invasion, and rebirth. I went to the mineature wonderland mega mode train exhibit. So massive. 1.5 floors in this building of intricate model trains. I heard some noise outside the hostel and ended up following this apparent refugee March till it led past a marching band playing in this square with some dudes breakdancig. So I stopped to watch that.

In the hoste I met this Indian fellow, Sasha studying in German and we went and hung out and experienced the "Reeperbahn", hamburgs "sinful mile" with bars and brothels. Both nights out I didn't get back until 5am. The first night got weird when I started really getting to know this British girl and we started making out in the 99c bar, then the guy she might have had a thing with showed up...the next night we found a German bachelor party and had a blast with them until 3 of the group ended up in a brothel after being beckoned in by the window girl.

Sasha being a huge fußbol Fan Wanted to go to a game, so I went and watch the German national team vs the Czech team, my first soccer game ever! Rounded off the 2 days with a trip to the local fish market where I found what looked like a left over Octoberfest beer celebration with a band rocking out at 9:30 and pints going down. Went back and watched all these small boats sail around this lake in the middle of the city. Thought that was so cool! Also had my first currywurst. Darn good train station food. After that, off to Amsterdam!

    Amsterdam: Netherlands

Alrighty, after Hamburg I headed off for Amsterdam. I decided to stay the first couple nights in a cheap beach side hostel called the flying pig about 20 km from the city. It was a super chill place, total party hostel, where we stayed up until 4am each night, making food, watching movies, playing drinking games what ever after a day out on the town. While at the hostel these 2 Germans were at a table the second night and looked like they needed a new friend. So I joined jasmin and Larissa for some Jenga and we were joined by a couple other people from the hostel.

We hung out and explored the city the day after. In the meantime I rented a bike and ride around trying to find this work away project on a canal boat. I didn't find the boat, but I pulled over to take a pic of my bike and the canals and these two columbian dudes asked if it was broken, I said no, just taking a tourist photo. So they asked where I was from and we got talking and they said hey let's roll a joint here and kick it. So we did. And chilled in the city for a while.

The next day we visited the Van Gogh meuseum, and in true Amsterdam fashion I was totally ripped for it. The first room we went in was about 30 of his portraits. Let's just say 60 Van Gogh eyes staring at you while stoned is an odd sensation.

We had classic Dutch pancakes in the carousel pancake house (had a carousel in it) and this place was just a round wooden house in a park in the city that I saw and had to go to after passing it on the train. The last thing we did before parting ways was ride some amusement park rides in a city square. We rode a Ferris wheel and one of those rides with seats on each end of a long arm that swig you around and you flip around. Quite fun spinning around over the top of the city of Amsterdam

    Bruge: Belgium

Next we hop on a bus to Belgim, specifically to the city of Brussels. But I didn't end up in Brussels, i ended up in Bruge. I don't know why the fuck I went to Bruge really, I think Somone told me it was a pretty looking town so I said whatever I'll go (didn't even know there was a movie of the town toll day 2) I hoped on a train there, and while on the train 3 Aussies sit down by me and we start Talking about travel, and they are going to the same town. I don't have any hoste booked, and they said I could come with. I said eff it why not, this proved to be a good thing as the busses in this little town had stopped running by this hour and with no data plan on Europe I had no clue where the hell I was going. I followed them and luckily there was a bunk in the hostel for me.

We also meet a French Canadian girl who we hang with the next few days, And another Aussie girl in a wheel chair who is solo traveling Europe as well. While in Bruge we climbed a bell tower, and a wind mill, tried Belgain chocolates, drank the best beer I've ever had in a cellar, and met a local semi pro roller blader who with his friend took us to their favorite spot at night, which turned out to be another hostel in town that was playing American bluegrass music. Not what i expected but it was fun!
