You'll likely have to order them online unless you can find a fabricator, but that would probably be more expensive than just ordering them from one of the vendors on here.

Archie's off-road in Wells is badass but kindof pricey.. I would also like to find some reasonably priced skids and sliders in southern Maine

Hey! New guy here from New Gloucester. Spend most of my free time in the west forks and Jackman area. Will post up a pic of the truck at some point. I have been seeing a ton of tacoma's on the road recently!

Has anyone been through the spencer road from rt 201 over towards kibby and the Goldbrook rd? I haven't traveled that way since the big rain storms this summer. I have friends staying by chain of ponds and I'm hoping to be able to get from rt 201 by Parlin pond over to 27 on dirt road. I remember someone earlier posting asking people to keep off the roads until they were repaired and I don't want to be somewhere I shouldn't be! Thanks

I don't know if your question has been answered but yes you can. I did it this spring, about 500 miles of dirt (or should I say mud) and 150 of pavement from Eustis to Oxbow. Take the Goldbrook road to about the end and then a right on the Holeb road, its pretty twisty but i comes out just above Jackman. We took a right on appleton road from Goldbrook to the spencer road which comes out in between Jackman and the forks. We were headed to the forks and went to Greenville from moxie falls on the Indian pond road, ended up getting lost on old snowmobile at dark for 3 hours, but we made it.:crapstorm::annoyed:

Our goal was to go see the Ice Cave, trains, the b 52, the rip damn, pitston farms. Pitston farms was closed, the rip dam was just trickling, There was too much snow to walk or drive to get close to the trains or the Ice Cave and we ran out of time to get to the bomber. So we will be going this coming June and start out at the B 52 and end up by the ice caves by round pond. We made it out of the woods with fumes in the tank but it was fun none the less. Would love if a couple of you guys could tag along.

Good to know. The Maine Gazetteer shows that some of those roads up there are gated so I didn't want to venture out only to run into closed roads.

Anyone ever do any panning in Gold Brook?

I have an older gazetteer so there may be gates on the holeb road that I just don't know about. But there were none on the route we took, so that one is safe.

I have traveled it many times but the area got 8" of rain in early July and the roads got washed out badly. I wasn't sure if anyone had been through since then?

I love that run, do it every other year or so, from Greenville Junction to Moxie Falls and back. One year on the way back took a turn too soon and had the minivan (toyota mind you) up on this snow sled trail, eventually we stopped on this ledge area and the minivan driver said enough, back out we went. The first time on this run, my son kept asking where are we going and honestly I really wasn't sure myself (no map, just compass and hope) but said frigging WalMart, what do you think. About 5 minutes later we see Wally World. We still laugh about that.

Please every keep talking about the roads up there, I keep adding to my list of need to go do. Now have the trains and ice caves to add.

Also when you do the B-52 site on Elephant mountain, you can keep going on that road and come out in the middle of Greenville.

Sharing some info I just learned from Maine DOT & Public Safety (State police) regarding auxiliary lights and whether they need to be covered or not. Apologize if this has been covered.

So I recently installed some Rigid D Series cubes on my Yakima Rack for using when driving on logging roads up north when fishing, hunting, camping, exploring, etc. I know they can't be used on road. People at work and friends were telling me that they need to be covered when on road or when not in use. That sounded like it could be a pain, so I checked through the Maine statutes and couldn't find anything regarding covering the lights.

Just placed a call to Maine DOT and Maine Public Safety and they confirmed that the lights don't need to be covered when not in use.

Unfortunately not always the case. My wife's co worker has a jeep liberty with aux lights. Was stopped for not having them covered.
    Go figure..........
