2001 Toyota Tacoma 5 speed: Truck will not start. Battery fully charged. Ignition cranks but motor won't turn over.

Attempt to start truck met with no luck. Could possible culprit be cell phone that had been inadvertently left on car phone charger?

If not, what other possibilities might be the cause for my dilemma?

2001 Tacoma 5 Speed cranks but doesn't start. Battery fully charged.

When not operating vehicle (parked and turned off), could leaving my cell phone connected to the car phone charger be the culprit?

If not, any suggestions as to what may be the cause of my dilemma?

I am mechanically inclined but 'electrical' is not at the top of my list of abilities.

Thank you in advance for any assistance that can be provided.

    ...we'll get there.
if it's cranking then the battery is ok. your cell phone being connected is a red-herring.

time to start exploring other causes. are there other symptoms? was anything else going wrong before this started? or you parked it one day and it just stopped starting?

Sounds like what may have happened to me a little while back. My battery seemed fine, but one night I used one of those cheap, plug-in-the-cigarette-lighter tire inflators to re-inflate my tires. Only did it for about 10 minutes, but the next morning when I went to start my truck it wouldn't fire up. It cranked like normal, but just kept cranking and wouldn't catch, at least not for awhile. I kept trying and finally it sputtered a bit, I gave it some gas and it picked right up. Left it running for awhile and it's been fine, hasn't happened again since. I blame the tire inflator for putting too much strain on the battery.

Long story short, try cranking it again with the battery jumped and see if that helps.

If not, there are other things to look at. Any codes/check engine lights recently?

"Ignition cranks but motor won't turn over." Don't understand.

If the battery is fully charged, the car phone charger is not the problem. Did you check the terminals? Dirty terminals might be the problem. The switch on the clutch pedal might be faulty. Corroded battery cables or a bad ground connection are possibilities.

    Good luck.
