What surf pads are those? They look nice and wide. To bad they made wind noise cuz they look great.
Im considering this ditch track system from rhino for absolute versatilityTacoma_Ditch_Track_2016_2.jpg

I picked up those pads at the local SUP shop. 30" wide.
What I do now is I mounted a 1" wide and 1/4" thick rubber weather strip from lowes on the entire length of the crossbars. Use that as a pad. Pretty cool so far. I can put one or two boards, anywhere on the rack being all padded!

Going by what I found online through Rhino Rack's website for the in-gutter track system you're looking at the following - but note this is for a 2008 Double Cab Shortbed
Looks like you can buy the track system seperate which works for me because I'll be doing a custom setup - I just needed to figure out a way to mount it all.

From what ive learned, there is no part number for a 2016 tacoma ditch tracks so people have been installing part # RTS03 which is the hilux part with no issues. Not sure if the rain gutters are exact same on 2nd gen and 3rd gen

I made my own mounts because I got sick of looking for a purchasable solution.

Yea I might have to go the same route since I have to make a custom rack setup to level across the raised bed cap I have. No one makes a low profile option...

I am sure you can improve on my design with tubing or solid square stock and a welder, but this worked out really well for what I could do on my own.

I actually like your design - its simple and works. How much weight have you put on it so far? I'll be using the rack setup for a RRT (roof top tent) and storage.

I have put 2 big plastic kayaks up there. a 17, and a 10 footer. Lumber etc, don't know weight, but it's quite a solid connection.

I just got a new 2019 Tacoma double cab.
Which landing pads will work ? (Yakima tells me they have nothing that will work, which I find hard to believe.
I have used landing pads on on my four previous vehicles. and swear by how solid they work

I spoke to Hunter at Yakima, The Landing pad 22 is the update from the 11. He was not 100% sure that I'd have to remove the Headliner. I will probably pick a set up if the Landing Pad 1 (from my hardshell rail system) doesn't work. If you're not aware, Yakima is also coming out with an HD system called the LockNLoad (similar to Prinsu Design).

Reviving this bc I need some landing pads (and I have not posted 50 times yet so I cant post in the markteplace). The most recent info is that Landing Pad #24 is specific for all 2005+ tacomas. However, yakima, and pretty much everyone, is out of stock. Anyone got any or know where to get any?

That is correct. I had to return the LP 22 as it wasn't quite a match. I contacted Yakima for support. They are revamping the LP24 so that it correctly fits and works with all roof rack accessories. They were having issues with the LockNLoad working. They should be getting things rolled out shortly, but COVID may have impacted this. The release is TBD, sign up for an email notification on their site.

I'm in the same boat as you, been searching like 10 different rack supplier websites to try and get some landing pad 24s but no luck! It's insane!

So I ended up finding some like right after I posted this on Offer up in WA. I have been scouring craigslist and ebay for weeks. I suggest a nationwide search of craislist. I like search tempest myself https://www.searchtempest.com/
there is also offer up and let go
good luck, I spoke to a yakima rep on the phone and he said they ahve no open order to restock it and that could mean 3 months or more before they even order any more.

Ah man! Lucky! Thanks for the search tempest link, I'm going to give that website a run for it's money especially since the landing pads are the only thing holding me up from putting my locknload platform on!

Funny enough I just saw that video by Ronny yesterday afternoon. Got me wondering what my 2012 roof is rated for with the landing pads installed?
