Spongy brakes

buy a pump, they are like $30 at harbour freight. use it to bleed brakes really well. do RR, LR, FR, FL. then when the road is a little wet, go to a safe place, high speed reverse and SLAM THE BRAKES! lock 'm up! Then drive forward at slow speed, maybe 25mph, then gentle come to a stop. HIGH SPEED REVERSE AND SLAM BRAKES AGAIN. Then drive forward at normal speed, maybe 40mph and brake hard to where you skid and ABS is activated. report back that will set the auto adjust lever in rear brakes i have been fighting this for god knows how long! it aint perfect yet, but helped ALOT!

 

My 2008 Tacoma has had spongy brakes since it was new. I even took it back to the dealer, but they told me it was normal. The brakes stopped the vehicle well, they just felt like I was stepping on a mushroom. I've bled my brakes multiple times to no avail...still feels spongy.

This is the only vehicle I've ever owned that had such a crappy feeling brake pedal. Heck, I would change/upgrade any part in a heartbeat if it would fix the pedal feel. It's the thing I hate most about my truck.
