Has anyone found a 255/85 in load range less than E? I like the size of the tire, but 10 ply is rough. I'm not out in puncture-land enough to justify rolling around on super thick sidewall tires year round.

Hey thanks for the props. The rack is a custom job my buddy and I put together. Got my idea from a all pro pack rack but wanted 4 main supports instead of 3.

Running the toyos mt on stock 16" steelies. Love them. The toyos rub on the frame and ucas with stock wheels so I'm running spacers. Will buy again for sure.

A little update: turns out the left side rubbing is occurring because the left wheel is sitting 1.5" further back in the wheel well than the right side! Going to see if the caster is way off, or if the frame is jacked... As the adjusters are quite different underneath so... something is amiss.

Im about to try out 255s and was wondering if I could fit them on my 2016 with a 2" leveling kit? Has anyone tried this or knows if or if not it will work. I also don't want to trim anything too major...your help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Alright y'all, can I get these on my second gen trd OR without rubbing. I am lifted 2.5" front and rear. I don't want to trim anything. I have aftermarket mudflaps. Any help appreciated. Also contemplating TRD faux bead locks

What - 187 pages of posts and you can't figure it out?

Ha ha. Not sure what your mudflaps will do to the equation, but model of tire, wheel backspacing, and alignment all make a difference. The lift doesn't seem to matter unless its a body lift. I'm pretty certain that if i'd stuck with the original wheels my KTM2's would fit w/o rubbing. As it is the left side rubs a slight amount, but that seems to be from some weird alignment issue that i'm hoping to fix. It rubs on the back of the wheel well at the fender and the wheel well interior (plastic) when turned about 20° and slightly flexed, fwiw. Long story short... maybe.

I read a lot of the pages lol but the more you read the more confused you become because of contradicting info

I run cooper ST maxx on my second gen with stock 16" OR wheels. No rub initially but I had an alignment to increase caster and then had slight rubbing at full lock. It is definitely alignment dependant. I have since put spacers on (1.25" spidertrax) with my stock wheels and had to trim the front wheel well liner. I did keep my mud flaps. Rule of thumb with the coopers: stock wheels, alignment to factory specs
= no rubbing regardless of lift. Once you start pushing your wheels out you will rub and have to modify.

I've got a 2004 dbl cab prerunner. 2" lift. As it's a 4 banger I've been looking to see what size tire would be good for overlanding/camping/adventuring without killing my MPG and also making me have to regear due to loss of power.

Should probably stick to 31". 255/85/16 or 33" x 10.5 only seem to come as E rates tires. Not only will you loose MPG because of the increased diameter you will lose some because of the weight. Knowing how gutless my first gen 3.4L V6 was I'd imagine the 4 banger would perform pretty poorly with 255/85/16s, especially in hilly areas.

    Form follows function
So aside from the spidertrax, everything else is stock (coils/shocks/UCA/leaf springs) on your rig?

Good to know. Thanks. What size would be best you think if I have a 17" wheel currently? Should I run a C rated tire instead of E rated?

Nah. My 2.7 is loving these tires. I assume it's all based on the trans and diffs. MT with stock 4.30s is about perfect for me. Might be hell for an auto though. Filled up today. 19.9 mpg on the last tank.

i have those tires in that size on a set of first gen tundra wheels. 2.5" lift in the front no cmc needed i did remove the mudflaps and trim the flares at the bottom but that was when i had 285's i love them so far they're quiet, ride great, stick to the road in the rain, and good off road in any condition so far but haven't been able to do alot off road yet

Yeah. I got a 4.56 gearing. Not sure if that's worse or better...
