Guy said he ran other cold air intakes. Why does that imply engine bay air? I may not be the smartest man out there but I completed the math for marines mci.....

You realize that the stock intake draws from the fender well right? And most closed aftermarket systems utilize the same hole as the stock. Some like Volant and afe even have a scoop that draws from front of truck.....

I think you are thinking of ram air intakes

You wont find much as most folks are lazier then we were twenty years ago doing free mods.
If you have a dremel or drill motor and a die Grinder round ball you can mill out the veins in your stock box and greatly increase the noise just like a CAI.
You can pretty much do "something" to every piece from the TB to the fender

    Still no cold air
Go to a dyno day at a shop that has group buy dyno pulls.
Most CAI cost you power, they dont make any, just noise.
That stock air box supplies all the air that engine can process in stock trim.
Spending $300 makes you smarter then a Toyota Engineer?
Its a bullshit marketing scam thats been running near 25yrs

Put the pipe down and back away slowly, there is no way you gained 10hp on a breather mod to a stock motor
Cant happen,I dont care what you spent
Put it on the drums before making bullshit claims of gains

You're just a prick in general aren't you? I notice you can't say anything in disagreement without trying to belittle. Small dick or just beat up a lot? Which is it?

First, don't ASSUME I haven't. Second, don't be a smart ass prickly hiding behind the curtain of the Internet. If you don't agree with a statement, disagree. Don't be an asshole.

I like the part when he said 10hp of high end torque

I wouldn't consider it a gimmick to sell intakes if it satisfies the customer for the right reasons as in engine noise, power gains on the other hand have always been a debate...I say if you're happy spending 300+ on something that makes you happy do it, most people don't have the mechanical ability to modify their stock intake so the money there is worth it alone, but I also agree claiming big gains in power like the poster above is full of shit...

BTW I stumbled upon this thread looking to see if Toyota came out with an intake for my truck yet and my question is still unanswered and now I'm replying to all of this...gotta love forums!

    Again!
Your stock motor cant use all of the air whether its a stock box or CAI.
Exactly the same on the other end

    guess what?

    35mph they all draw AMBIENT.

spend a chunk of change, use a y cable and plug in a scangauge, and an ultragauge.............monitor IATs, and watch for yourself.

yup, even the opened up k&n draws same as URD..............
    truth hurts

I did this for myself.... so i didnt record the crap with my phone or gopro...

.but just for some of ya, i actually thought about it and u can see im right by trying this

Test the stock intake.... when u see it pulling ambient at 35-40mph, then u can do the math. U cant draw cooler than ambient without an ice bath.

Yeah, kudos, call someone out because they shared knowledge and spent a pretty penny researching shit for themselves, and was kind enough to share.
    Bravo.
