    Smittybilt X20 Comp 12k Synthetic part # 98512 $522 including shipping.
This is the same exact winch as the 10k Synthetic (weight, dimensions, etc), but lower gearing. I' don't care about speed, I care about torque.
If you want the 10k, then my guess that it will be slightly less $$.
If you want the aircraft cable vs. synthetic, then my guess it will be a lot less $$, in the HF range.

... that would be why people call it that, yes, but thats not why i'm saying good luck.

don't know, don't care. just know they work. feel free to be the designated driver next time i go drinking and you can find out for yourself! :p

nobody is pissing on anything... and clearly you're new... hunter PUKES on stuff, not pisses on it.
    :D

    hundreds of times?

Just looked it up. It is definitely a great price ($375 on Amazon) and good reviews so far. Hopefully they have learned from the problems with the xrc8 ( smittybilt winch xrc8 problems ). There was a while when everyone I knew that had one, had a broken one. I believe thats why they were left out of this- http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/129-1107-massive-multi-winch-shootout/

and thats why I bought my ENGO. 9000S for under $500 IIRC. I did successfully break a synthetic winch line, but they sent me a new one for free.

I had it there too. Decided to look on ebay, and found it for the same, but or best offer. I offered 525, and they accepted.

Well you asked how it worked... thats how it works... they act the same as weights... theyre just at the outter diameter of the tire instead of at the bead... pirate4x4 has a good writeup about it on there.

I didn't understand why they wouldn't just distribute evenly and do nothing. But after reading this it seems to be due to the tire bouncing slightly and as it bounces they distribute until it doesn't bounce anymore, all within a second or two

    Yup. LOL.

Just because I'm new to TW and this particular thread, doesn't mean I'm new to off-roading.
Search and Rescue for the San Diego County Sheriff's dept in the 80's introduced me to it. SAR for various agencies in the Pacific Northwest in the 90's and early 2000's brought my outdoor rescue and recovery experience to a whole new level. If you take a look at my recovery tools, they're older than Hunter. LOL.

It's a different kind of off-roading that I've been enjoying lately with this group. In the west coast, I didn't have to pay 40 bucks a pop to try to go over the cool shit at Rausch. In fact, in my previous life, I did everything I could to avoid the same shit we've been crawling over lately. LOL.

What I am VERY NEW to is doing all the truck work/mods. Now that's all extremely new to me. And it's been very rewarding learning all the stuff.

I like my badlands (harbor freight) wench. I think I got it for $250 and bought 100' of synthetic line on here for like $80. It's slow as balls but always works. Haven't maintained it at all for 2 years. One time it drug a heavy ass cummins 60' across a swampy corn field, had to strap my truck to a tree to keep from moving lol
