I suppose the general concencus is 5100's (front & rear?), AAL and eibach to pair with the 5100's up front? I've never owned a tacoma, picking one up this weekend and have money set aside for maintenance and some mods. I do like a slight rake, does adding an adjustable shackle on the rear give me that option?

Also how harsh are the eibach springs? Looking at this kit, don't know what front spring rate to get. http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Ultimate-Tacoma-lift-with-Bilstein-shocks_p_394.html

Depends on which springs you get. I noticed you have quite a selection. When I bought a similar set up the only option was 620lb Eibach coils. But I didn't get get the Ultimate coilover assembly. I just bought the adjustable 5100's with the 3" coils and put the 5100's on the bottom setting. You have a true coilover except they aren't rebuildable. You need to choose the right spring for your application. I didn't have a choice because I just bought the 5100's and the coils and that was the spring rate they came in plus the guy at ToyTec said since I have a 4wd DC and I was planning on running an aftermarket bumper the 620lb coils would be ideal. It rides like a truck. At least you have a few choices. And yes I have a 1.5" AAL w/ 5100's in the back also. All from ToyTec. I also ended up getting Camburg UCA's for a little more travel and alignment issues. My front 5100's cost $199.99, 3" coils were $163.99 and a replacement bushing/washer kit was $20.99. Mind you this was 2 1/2 years ago from ToyTec. I see you can get what I bought for cheaper now. My Camburg UCA's were $641 from downsouthmotorsports. That price I've seen has gone up.

You can't run expos on your 97 unless you plan on cutting off and rewelding front leaf hangers and rear hangers. 95-97 trucks have 3'' shorter leaf packs.

There are tons of people who have run that combo though.

Does anyone know off hand or a good thread for reference for how to set 5100's height. I know you have to take spring off and there's a snap ring but I'm mainly wondering about the pliers you need for that snap ring. All I have is some crappy harbor freight ones

Lift is arriving tomorrrrroooowww!! Stoked. Gonna be replacing crappy spacers and blocks since I've had the truck for 4+years. Bilsteins and eibachs with dakars. Greasable bushings. Mm. Installing Saturday. Also gonna pull the trigger on a relentless stealth bumper too while sale is going. Waiting on word from them on some custom cutouts I requested. Gonna be dope.

Let me know how the ride quality is, more than likely going this same route just can't decide on eibachs or ome's.

eibachs are way to stiff for a prerunner without any extra weight. v6 and plate bumper you can kinda get away with it but if your a 4 banger just forget about it.

Will do. My opinion will be a little biased tho, since all I've had is my crappy spacer lift. From what I hear the eibachs are pretty stiff, especially without weight. But others have said it seemed fine. Its a truck. Ha. So Idk. I should expect my ride quality to at least improve over what it is now. And I'll have time to test it out until I get my plate bumper. If it turns out Its just as jarring as it is now, which I doubt, I may end up trying to swap to ome all around later on. From what little I've researched, ome is better ride quality. But, was having trouble figuring out what ride height to go with to match eibachs 3", as I'm pretty set on not being happy unless it's at that, and the eibachs for sure will be.

And it's gonna be a couple weeks now till I get time to install. Having ups issues. Was all suposed to be delivered last Friday. Didn't get the dakars. Was a big hassle. Long story short, all because I put in "Rd" instead of "Dr" on my address. Trying to charge wheelers more in shipping and everything! Wheelers has been awesome though and has been taking care of me keeping me informed and fighting the additional shipping charges and whatnot. Because they validate everything before shipping. And I haven't had an issue before with shipping even with the street suffix being wrong.. Anyways..:frusty:

I actually got one leaf in just a few minutes ago. And he didn't know what happened to the other. Then got an email saying it was sorted incorrectly. Like, how the heck does that happen? They shipping loads of leafs out here to az er what!? I mean, they're a pair, how do you miss-sort those. Lol. Sigh Oh well. I'm done ranting. Hopefully on the 3rd I'll git-r-done. And get to cycling.:mudding:

I ordered aftermarket brake lines and the guy put the wrong shipping label on my brake lines so a guy in Virginia got mine and I got his lines. Then I had to wait an extra week to get them. Another time I ordered my Method rims and 3 came from one warehouse and the 4th cane from another. Mis - sorting stuff is somebody just not paying attention, just like putting the wrong shipping labels on packaging. It depends on who you order from or who the shipper is too. Sounds like you had some bad luck. Usually UPS & FedEx are on top of their game. But with the holidays coming up. It's only gonna get worse. Since they hire seasonal help! Instant Gratification! Ya gotta love it!

Yeah I know. Shit happens. Just was bummed. Had everything planned for a Saturday install. I work weekends so I had a hard time getting that day off, and I gotta take it to my brothers house for the install whom also works a lot. So it's just hard for me to find the right time is all. Now it's looking like we can do it turkey day. As long as my other leaf comes tomorrow or Wednesday.

Mine is a V6 so might not be too bad.

All I have is a spacer lift as well so I know where you are coming from with the horrible ride quality lol. I feel like I am riding on rocks most of the time, so anything with improvement will help tremendously:fingerscrossed:

Even a v6 prerunner will still feel like it's riding on bricks with eibachs and no additional weight

How much does a lift/5100's affect handling and performance? I don't do any offroading (2WD struggles), but I'm looking to upgrade the suspension. Does it make the truck tilt more side to side? How would you compare the performance from before/after a lift? Thanks.

What's the average lift height setting? Would I need to add something to the rear to make it level? (Not too familiar with suspension, I think it's called add a leaf or something?)

What if I went with OME 882's or 881's?

881s would be much better for your application
