    Hey everyone,
I've been thinking of taking an off-road vacation this winter. It's probly not the best time due to snow and cold weather, but with my job I get laid off in the winter so I have plenty of time off to do what I please. I live in North Dakota and plan to work my way through Montana and down towards Arizona and maybe California. I'll be traveling alone and most likely camping or maybe staying in hotels if any are available where I'll be. I don't really have a route picked out.
My truck is only slightly modified for off-road. I have OME 3" lift with 887 4Runner springs in the front, LR upper control arms, Dakar rear leafs with add a leaf, ubolt flip, wheelers bump stops, extended brake lines, diff lock relay mod, extended diff breather mod and I've got a CB radio. Rock sliders and a smitty built winch are on the way. I'm going to invest in some fuel cans and a high lift jack with bed mounts as well.

I guess I'm just looking for some cool trails to hit on my way, Mojave road looks pretty cool. Nothing to crazy to where I'm going to smash my rig to pieces, just awesome views, far from civilization and some nice trails that only a 4wd will go. I've never been further west than Bozeman, MT

Sounds like a fun trip! But one man and one truck sounds like things could get life threatening quickly. What do you do for work that allows you to take off all winter?

Yea it should be pretty fun. I'm sure it's not the smartest thing to go out on my own, but I'm stubborn and want to explore. I figure if I take it easy and play it smart then I should be ok.

I work for the railroad and a lot of jobs shut down for the winter and us low guys on the totem pole get laid off for the winter until they bring on more jobs in the beginning of the new year.
