So I recently ordered a pair of crossbars to mount a RTT to from 4x innovations. Their website has conflicting information in multiple spots on whether or not these fit 2016 Tacomas. Since 2016 was listed on their website I figured they must be the same and I ordered a pair. Once they were delivered I painted them, and went to install them, and discovered they do not fit 2016 Tacomas. After emailing Adam about the issue he told there was nothing that he could do and that if I wanted the correct crossbars I would have to wait until the end of October and then pay full price as well as shipping (and eat the cost of the ones I already have). Nowhere on their site does it say 2015 and 2016 Tacomas are different or that the bars do not fit 2016 Tacomas. I am not impressed at all with their customer service and just want others to be aware. I have attached screen shots of their webpage where it says 2016 and 3rd gen, as well as pictures of the bars that don't fit. I am also wondering if there is any legal action I can take since I did not receive what was described on their website.

I think you're SOL on this one. The website says 2005-2015 truck models

Also, I haven't ordered anything from them, but from what Ive heard they seem like a pretty cool company.

And the pictures also show a 2005-2015 truck bed. One of the major changes in the 3rd gens was the bed, so Id think it would be very unlikely that it would fit

There are still quite a few parts that fit both generations (bump stops, suspension components, bed mat...) Seems extra dirty to me that he changed their website after I emailed him and wasn't willing to help out at all.

It is unfortunate, but the general consensus is that you may have to eat the cost. The good news is that it is only $63 + shipping so it's not like you're out $1k for a bumper or something or that you had to make irreversible changes to your truck to make these fit. Trying to take legal action for $63 seems like overreacting to me. You rolled the dice (said so yourself) and came up snake eyes. Chalk it up to a lesson learned. If anything, I'd say get your 50 post quota and try to sell them here and recoup most of the money you paid for them. That way it's not a total loss.

    Edit:
    ^there you go.

I guess lesson learned, if you see a discrepancy on a product you should contact them before you lay down the cash.

I'd be leary about fitment if I saw that, and wouldn't just take a chance. People make mistakes in listing products all the time.

    Lol and seriously...."legal action"?

I'd like to see the vendors side of the story.

It's more about principle for me, I am not worried about selling them or eating the $160 bucks. Their site said 2016 and 3rd gen when I ordered them and when I emailed them about my issue they basically told me to go fuck myself and then immediately went and changed their website info. Sure glad I at least took those screenshots so I have some proof. Just want people to know about my experience and decide for themselves about the company. They will not get any more of my money, that's for sure.

Making a mistake is fine as long as you do SOMETHING to make it right.

Well this just sucks for both of you.

I've had something similar happen with another vendor for considerably more money than 63 measly bucks, we talked, he then sent me the right item, I then sold the original piece and PayPal-ed him (as promised) the money from that sale.

We worked it out. Easy, peasy.

Edit: I have since bought from that vendor again.

This is why I'd like to see the vendors side. To be as objective as possible, and honestly no offense, there have been plenty of instances where the buyer cries foul and it ends up being the buyer who is the problem. Not saying its the case but its happened before.

That, and did you only send a single email? Everyone is completely guilty today of trying to make as little contact with people as possible, and in my opinion an email complaint just isn't the same as conversing politely over the phone with someone and working out the issue in real time versus pinging each other back with text.

I can see the frustration though, if everything is as you say it is, it would be nice to at very least get item price refunded even if you have to front the return shipping.

I personally would have called or emailed just to make sure before buying. But im also a "Measure twice cut once" kid of person. Suspension parts were the same, but majority of the body parts are what was the biggest changes (engine also of course). One of new features on your truck is the bigger/deeper bed.

They did not literally tell me GFYS, however what they did tell me is that they will have a 2016 version ready at the end of October and I would have to wait until then and pay full price plus shipping. I was at least expecting them to admit to their mistake and cut me some sort of deal (new set sent earlier than end of october, new set at discount, free shipping on new set..). I just expect better customer service than that. They wouldn't accept return because I already painted it. (was going to install under existing softopper so I had to remove all parts of softopper to install, hence painting them beforehand)

Deeper bed doesn't necessarily mean bigger gap between cargo rail and top of bed side, lesson learned, next time if it looks at all questionable I will call first. Still though, why was 2016 even listed on that page at all?

Once again I didn't see the tag at all and found this on my own, but thanks for trying Jdevtac.

Kyle, I'm sorry to see that our offer of exchanging the cross bars for the cost of shipping was not acceptable, or represented here. I'm also almost surprised to be called dirty for fixing the mistake so this issue doesn't happen in the future. Not fixing it would seem to be the dirty response to me.

Here's the emails we exchanged so you all can formulate your own opinion. I thought an even up exchange was a fair offer since he modified (painted, IE they can't be resold as new) the parts and everything thing but those two image titles says 2015, including the receipt that was emailed and shipped with the parts.
