    I did it like that at the Track a few times, before I swapped transmissions. It worked for me as well. Timing the selector between shifts was the hardest part. As I hadn't had enough practice.

    This is exactly what I do when I want to show my friends what my truck can really do. Brake boost and then lift off the brake pedal and away it goes. Most the time you cant get that kind of thrust because one or both of the rears just let go.

    Yup. That is the reason that Super Werty had the longest held quickest 1/4 mile time. Considering his power to weight. Not until a manual RWD with a lot more power, and really good driver combined, and appropriate traction mods, was it surpassed.

    History proves that it is hard to beat the auto, with manual shifting, and 4x4 launches.

    So I'm going to be installing a urd maf cal and a urd true cold air intake. I have my tablet displaying torque pro from a Bluetooth Odb 2 scanner. I'd like to get 0-60 times from a) stock b) maf cal c) maf cal and cai. My question is how do get the most accurate times for all. I'd also like a step by step of how to launch with 4x4 engaged, shifting manually, on a auto. I understand the basic concept.... Just don't want any surprises. Any and all info/links are appreciated.

    Load the torque converter. Shift when you see fit. For me with the valve body upgrade, my shift point is a little higher now.

    Around when should I be looking to disengage 4x4? Would I have to let off the gas as it disengages?

    Don't bother, when you make it to 60 let off and coast or whatever depending on the speed limit then gently shut it off. It's not like you are doing a quarter mile. Also I would just let the truck do the shifting. It will be the same every time and you won't bounce off the rev limiter.

    No need to disengage 4wd. Manual shifting lets you get allllll them rpm's.. Its not difficult.

    There is a big difference when manual shifting. I've played with both methods when we go to the sand drags.. Pretty regularly.. And manual ftw

    In stock I wouldn't imagine that much of a difference in shifting manually or letting the truck do it. With the maf cal I would think the longer it's in open loop the more I'd get out of it and from my understanding that doesn't kick in until at least 4500 rpm.
    I'll try both today as it's still stock and see what I get. Thanks for the info.

    8.55 4x4 on, not loading converter, just dead stop and flooring it. K&n drop in filter and magnaflow muffler. 5100lbs at the recyclers scale half tank of gas. I'll try manual shifting on my next one.

    1st do a few launches or drive more aggressively to tell the computer that grandma time is over, so it knows to go when it's time to go.
    Load the converter and launch in 2wdr.
    I was letting it shift it's self with the stock intake was the most consistent.
    it may take a bunch of pulls to get a good time so let it cool back down after a few runs.
    With the intake on it will pull much better so manually shifting may be better with the intake on.
    When you add the maf cal you may start spinning the tires so you may have to heat the tires up and or lower tire pressure.
    Open loop will kick in as soon as you hit the gas so the maf cal can cut lots of time I dropped about 1 second.

    I may be doing 0-60 times again when it warms up. now I have a volant intake, new trans fluid, unichip and 33s, so I hope I can back to where I was with the 32s.
