I presume putting it in the same rubber line that comes off of where I tapped it the metal line would suffice?

Yep. As long as they are on the same line.

    Update.
Checked FP with a tee connection while running at idle from the same location. ~23psi.
Increased rpms some and the psi seemed to dip maybe 1 or 2 psi or stayed the same, gauge seemed to move but it was so little.
While idling I also removed the vacuum line from the back of the air intake box, this line goes to the fuel pressure regulator at the rear passenger side of the engine. No change in rpms at all. I put my finger over the hose end as it was still on the regulator, I felt nothing. Put my finger over the that exposed port on the back of the intake box, felt nothing. I was expecting to feel a small amount of suction in each case.
Lastly, what has also started is when engine is warm and idling for a long time it will stumble when accelerating, even gentle acceleration. I have not chk'd to see if that set any codes but I want to say it felt like the engine was missing.

    Hope those were good explanations.
    Thanks

The fuel pressure regulator on the 1st gen Tacoma is opposite to what is normal for most other manufacturers. The regulator increases pressure if a small amount of vacuum is PRESENT, rather than missing, as most cars. The air box will not show any real vacuum at that port at idle, or even slightly off idle. It should however show some vacuum when you snap the throttle. Either way, 23PSI at idle is too low. If you have replaced the fuel filter already, then I would consider it time to replace the fuel pump itself.

    Ok, will do.
I presume on a 2nd generation Tacoma the regulator works the same way?
Filter is in the tank with the fuel pump so both will get replaced when I drop the tank.
Thank you so much, I'll report back on how it runs after the filter and pump are replaced.

I have an intermittent traction control and ABS lights after new tires, alignment and new battery install.

    2012 Tacoma 2.7L 4 cyl 4spd auto 4x4 basic regular cab
no mods no lifts the new tires are OEM size P245/75/16

Thursday evening I had new tires, alignment and battery installed at a local Firestone auto center. The lights came on during the drive home. I have made several trips after installing the tires. A couple of the trips I made, the lights did not come on at all. The rest of the trips, the traction control and ABS lights stayed off for a while but turned on at some point while driving. I picked up my son after work and drove about 30 miles before the lights came on. I check all the wheel sensors and did not find any broken, pinched or unplugged. I am not sure how to pull codes for the ABS or I would give them to you. I called the Firestone store and they are going to look at it Monday.

I did a google search for "traction control and ABS lights on after new tire install". Some of the answers were broken sensor, pinched or unplugged wire, dirt or debris blocking sensors or different size tires creating different wheel speeds. I checked that all 4 tires are the same size. Anything else to check?

    Thank you
    Mike

The tech at Firestone told me a sensor in the steering had to be reset.

Haven't been on here a lot lately due to working so much. Sorry.

Typically grease will not affect a sensor, as it uses magnetic fields which are not affected by petroleum products. HOWEVER is there are fine metal shavings from a wearing part that is impregnated into the grease, it is possible for THAT to affect the magnetic field.

Improperly done alignment would cause an error in the traction control system. Let me know if it fixed the issue. Be sure to tag me so I can get notified.

Fuel pump and strainer (filter) have been replaced and after about 300 miles no codes haven been set and the PSI is now in the 40's. Runs so much better. This is what I installed.

They must not flush, just replace every component. I don't know how much work to pull dash to change evaporator. Must be a big job.

Yep, pick your battles, or at least the ones that bend you over the least.

How did you make out DoorDing? I would say $4500 sounds really, really high! I would do some research. Get prices on a new compressor, evaporator core, expansion valve, condensor, receiver/drier, pag oil, o-ring kit. I see no reason all of your a/c line can't be re-used.With all the parts I mentioned, the lines will be disconnected any easy to flush out. I have started to replace my a/c on my 03 Tacoma. $180 for compressor, $65 condensor, evap core $50, receiver/drier &expansion vale $35, o-ring kit $10, pag oil $8. About $350 in parts. I will be flushing & re-using my lines. I will take it to a local shop where I will have them run a vacuum on the system and fill it. A friend said they charge around $250 for that. Haven't confirmed that yet. If that figure is correct, then i'm looking at $600

How long does it take a ASE certified technician to tear out those components and reinstall new? Then vac and refill the system? I would assume with the tools and knowledge...8 hour day??? Whats labor? $140? =$1120. Vac & refill? I'll double the figure from the local shop =$500. Your probably looking at double in parts v.s. my cost too. =$700 Keep in mind, i have not included new lines for the system. I wouldn't think you need too unless, they are cracked/broken or damaged another way. Ok, whats the total...$2320. I don't think new lines and labor for them would be $2180 which, is the amount you need to come up to the $4500 est. I would say the $2300 range would sound about right. If they tell you yep, gonna be $4500! I would be looking elsewhere.

Oh my, I did it again. I jumped the gun and shot my mouth off without fully understanding the situation at hand. Sometimes I read fast through things and pick out certain things as I go. The $4500 got me going whoa! Lol! Ok, then my post applies to a normal system!
