Haha I'm alive, crazy story though...

Heading back on buzzard road to do more wheeling with Tim and Mike we came across a large downed tree across the trail that must have fallen 5 mins prior since we just came through there.

My girl had to pee so I stopped, the guys took off and as I was catching up on the trail a couple of kids covered in mud jumped out in front of me, some hills have eyes crap lol

Turns out they were wheeling a full sized new dodge ram down one of the side trails, lost control and slid down the mountain into a tree. There's no way I'm pulling them out with my 4 banger, so we called around for some help.. TK if you have a missed call from a 408 828 number, that's me lol

Also I got a bunch of pictures and videos I'll post up later.

Good times and nice to meet a lot of you!

Yeah Tim told us about that tree. Glad to hear you got out and weren't eaten by this guy:

Weird though. I don't have a missed call from you. Our signals must have been bad. How'd the kids end up getting out?

Another highlight: @LG Taco thought I was joking when I said @ninja89 doesn't like mud. But then he saw him swerving to avoid little puddles...

I wish we could have done the planned route though.

I am now the King of getting us kicked out of backroads.

I'm printing a copy of this out and leaving it in my truck: http://law.jrank.org/pages/9421/Private-Roads.html

"A private road is often established because an individual needs to gain access to land; such a road can cross another person's property. A private road can be used by the general public and is open to all who wish to use it, but it primarily benefits those at whose request it was established. Unlike highways that are cared for by the public at large, private roads are maintained at the expense of the private individuals who requested the road."

    A few things
Understand this is a private road. These people are putting their hard earned money and time maintaining these roads. To see people trying to "offroad" on them makes them very angry. I grew up on a private road and my dad would spend his weekends breaking his back after working manual labor all week. So keep your paper with the law on it in your truck all you want, but someone who works hard to maintain that road year round will tell you to get fucked and I don't blame them.

I'm gonna try to catch the Hollister run for sure. I've been kicked out of Buzzards more times than I can count. We used to go up all the time, but now way more people moved in so now there is one more place where they don't want you having fun.

I was up there last year and every single resident just waved at me. This lady was not pleasant.

Added you as tentative for the Hollister trip. Please confirm by the trip.

Summit Rd is posted private, whether that legally means you can't use it, I don't know. Ditto for Ormsby. I thought Buzzard is a county road, and in fact some of it goes through the State Park, and is closed in winter by the County or Parks. I have been there when the gate near the upper (Nisene Marks) end was closed and locked. In any case, if you're on Buzzard, please look out for mountain bikers! Also, as a property owner on a private road in the Santa Cruz mountains I do pay for maintenance as well as paying County property taxes, so I probably wouldn't like a bunch of guys playing on it. But it's paved so no one wants to play there
