I own a 2000 year model 3.4L Tacoma Pre-Runner Sport Edition, which from the factory doesn't have cruise control. I was able to install all factory parts from a salvaged 4-Runner and everything installed correctly. I cannot get the cruise to engage and the cruise light blinks on the dashboard as if it is getting a failure signal (as it is supposed to do). I'm not sure if the ECM needs to be re-programmed or it isn't compatible. All connections on the wiring harness are there leading me to believe it is possible to function. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated!!

My guess would be the CC computer isn't correct. It may have to be an exact match to what would have gone in your truck if it had CC. I did this recently and it took quite a while to get that exact part.

Thanks Rick. My brother-in-law is a mechanic and he said the same as well. I'm sure it won't be easy to match correctly, but I'm going to try. Thanks again!

    You're welcome.
In my case I was able to determine the exact part# I needed for my rig : 88240-35310

One local wrecker I went to that didn't have it, looked it up in a national data-base of
wrecker parts, and found one at Whitey's Wrecking in Spokane, Washington

I called them and ordered it over the phone. Only cost me $50
