Looking for locker 04 tacoma

Hey guys! I want to join some other members on a trip in October and I want to get a locker in my 04 pre runner 2.7 auto. Im going to also be daily driving the truck so I'm going to need something I can turn on and off. If anyone knows where I can buy what I need please let me know.

 

where you located ? im planning on doing the same to my same truck just Xtracab

Ive seen a few complete rear ends on Craigslist with lockers in them, but you'd need to re gear cause of the 4banger

 

TRD swap and regear, or throw a arb in your current setup

 

I found a 3rd memeber but I'm not sure if it will bolt onto my housing. And I can buy some 4.56s

Unfortunately with our trucks the 2.7L anyway the locker third member won't fit unless you notch the current housing, there are a few write-ups about this on here but i would see if you could find a whole axle drum to drum and just swap it in and wire the locker up, I'm in the same boat as you and constantly looking for the whole rear axle.

 

Check out @MuttTruck for sale post for a 4.88 with an ARB locker and compressor. If you buy the rear I'll buy the front. It's posted in the for sale forum.

notching the housing isnt that big of a deal, i did it front and rear on my old 4runner. i always thought the big problem with doing this is that non elockers, were actually a 8.4 diff and the housing was different?

 

Yeah the non elocker housings were 8.4 inch compared to the locker housing that were 8 inch
