My son overheated his 2002 pre-runner. Fluids are not mixing, but cylinder #3 has low compression.

Will not be keeping the vehicle. Do we sell it as is, or sink money into it (fix or replace motor) and hope to receive more at sell time?

Overheat followed by low compression should be a headgasket. If you can DIY correctly, a fixed/running vehicle will bring much more $, and faster, than a broken one.

But you don't tell us anything else. Condition, miles, state of rust, need for other major maintenance, etc.

So, if its a running clap trap already, fixing might not matter much. If its a gem, fixing matters a lot.

Since youve already detemined you aren't keeping it, I'd have to guess its not a gem?
