When I use my aux cable for my radio along side with having my phone charging I can hear engine noise through the speakers. I have a stock radio modified to run the aux through the cd player.

Now before you start saying it's probably because I modified the radio I also get engine noise through my cb radio that receives power through the cigarette outlet as well and it's a brand new cb radio.

Im thinking the outlets need a better ground to solve the problem and before I rip apart my center console I wanted to know what you guys think. Also for what its worth I am electrically inclined.

I doubt its the ground, but rather poor shielding on the wires. You have signal cables next to power cables and its most likely putting out interference. Easiest fix would be try and move your power cable away from signal wire, or buy some shielded wire.

only a pioneer amp and a 10" kicker but those wires are separated and shielded.

How can my cb radio have poor shielding if the radio sits in my lap and the coax cable goes out the back?

Doesn't matter of they are wired separate it all runs off of one electrical system.

    Check all your grounds.
If you are tapping power from another source, don't. Get a relay and use that.

And and said, check all your grounds. Typically feedback is from bad grounding

I have the JBL system in my 2009 and I get awful static when listening to the radio and charging anything. :annoyed:

I end up using the aux whenever I have to charge my phone.

In the old days 'interference' was a sign of plug wires that needed replacement.

Not saying that's it, but have the wires have been in service beyond their recommended duty cycle?

Does the interference change as you move the cable around? If so, that's a radiated interference. Also, two easy things to do are clean your battery terminals and ensure your battery to frame ground path is clean and tight. Do the easy stuff before ripping apart the truck. How old is your battery? They provide some filtering for noise and if on their last legs, may give you grief.
