    ...too much shit to list.
It's all just verbiage. Some cages are more extravagant than others.

Yes he was referring to his crossbrace as an engine cage.

And yes a true engine cage gets rid of all of your tin foil body from the cab forward.

This thing looks amazing. I didn't like that colour, but it looks really good on your 2nd gen.

    Sub'd for light reading tonight.

    Understood.

Hmm when you put it that way it makes me really want a full engine cage.... The hard part is how to get it around URD equal length headers. :/

If you're making a full engine cage, you can do around whatever headers however you want?

Yea, it just makes things trickier because those things take up a lot of space. It will be easier to figure out once all the tin foil is out of the way though...

Yea its just worded different. In the future it will be a frontal cage as my front radiator support is in like 4 pieces. Gonna rip it all out and tube everything.

Changed it to "shock tower brace" so everyone doesn't get confused.:argue:

When ever someone new looks under the hood and sees the bar they always ask what its for. My first answer is always "it helps when I go drifting." The looks I get make it worthwhile. I feel that combined with the TC bucket gussets, the @dirt designs bucket hats and crossbar make for a safer arrangement especially with my mental midgetry behind the wheel.

I did some searching and read through what I could find, but search isn't always the best so excuse me if this was covered and I missed it.

It sounds like you had a deaver pack (probably F67) then got them to make you a custom pack for the extra weight you carry? I also saw that you had a shackle flip with 5" shackle. Is the custom pack still a 61.5" like the F67? Is it a good match with the 5" shackle? Have you tried other taco expo style stuff for comparison (all pro expo, dakar, Chevy 63 conversion, etc)?

I need to revamp my rear and want to do something fun. I haven't seen any LT leafs that like expo style loads so I was thinking Chevy 63s, but. ... then I read about your setup!

Yeah I had the standard deaver pack that comes with the DMZ kit. I'm not running a shackle flip, it's still inverted, but just longer (part of the DMZ SUA kit) The new leaf pack is the same as the one before just their "HD" model with an AAL added in. It's stiff when there's no load in the bed. I had the all pro expo prior with the BAMF 12" shock kit and that rode good. I just decided to go the full LT route. The chevy 63 setup looks good and flexy, haven't seen one setup for speed on a Taco yet.

From what I've heard about the 63" it's very flexy, but can still handle a load. I would think if you're trying to set it up for speed it would be mostly up to your choice of rear shock at that point. A good bypass setup would probably be ideal, but I have no real experience here.

Thanks for the info. Now that you have the HD version of the springs is the load carrying capacity good? I don't mind stiff with an empty bed... but most of my offroad driving involves a couple hundred lbs or more in/on the bed.
I've heard the same, which is why the 63s have been at the top of my list. The drawback is that they're a little on the flat side so most people seem to use them with shackle flip and longer shackle, limiting up travel a bit.
I don't really need a setup for speed, it's more of an expo/trail build to be honest. The articulation is the appeal for me more than soaking up big hits. I like to go fast sometimes, it's just not the main focus of my truck.

I've been thinking the same thing. I have Dakars right now, and they're not bad but they don't handle very high loads that well, and are not the most flexy either. Unfortunately there is always a tradeoff...
