Build thread reboot.

I noticed this thread was way out of date, so it is time to bring it back with some updates and new info, a lot has changed.

Short recap. I purchased the truck a few years back with a good mid travel build on it. I set out to keep it mostly the way it was and of course that changed over time. The truck was stolen in Albuquerque and rebuilt with a lot of work, care and attention to detail. It is now under the knife again like always. Never can leave it alone.

Additionally in the last three months I have taken a position at @CaliRaisedLed as their lead of engineering and shop operations. So you will be seeing a lot of fun new products from them being showcased on this build a long with some fun shop pics to show off what we can do!

Truck: 2010 Toyota Tacoma, TRD Off Road, V6, automatic, 4x4 with E-Locker

Front Suspension:
- Dirt King 3.5 Long Travel Kit
- King 2.5" x 8" with Remote Reservoir Coilovers
- Dirt King Extended Brake Lines
- Custom spindle gussets

Rear Suspension:
- DMZ Spring Under Axle Kit
- King 2.5 x 16" 3-Tube Bypasses

Few pics of the truck over the last year or so.

 

Pic from the theft repairs. The shop that did the body work isn't messing around. They are respraying everything but the roof. Front bumper, front fenders, grill, hood and tailgate all sprayed off the truck. Hard to tell in the pic, but the bed is pulled back so they can get all around the cab and bed.

 

The truck is back! The shop did a great job of fixing all the body work and with the paint. They are recovering the seats in two weeks.

This is it for now. I have been driving it pretty hard for the last couple days. Want to make sure it's still all there and it's just like new!

Now that it's back, the rebuild can begin. First on the list, some newly designed Apex bolt on sliders!!!!

Sub a dub dub. Is that a new front or rear bumper? And would you be up for mocking up some skids on my DCLB?

 

New front bumper! Skids are for sure on my list. I just have a long list... We can work something out though for sure. Lets talk details when you bring that Tundra by.

Thanks guys!!! It is hard to show what the final product looks like using Solid Works without the truck rendering and without a real perspective. Will be a really slick bumper when it's done. After sliders next week I will jump into the front bumper!

 

damn sucks about your truck but glad it's back. Was that an avid bumper guard??

 

It's my own custom bumper I made. Similar in concept as the Avid one as it bolts on around the factory bumper. But it had a lot of extra stuff going on to include a full 3/16" thick aluminum skid with tube subframe and a lot of built in light mounts and other small features.

I'd be so pissed.... Being stolen from is a crime i take personally. They've tried to steal my old truck many times ...luckily never successful.

Did they leave you a bowl or is that yours lol
