Ew, Charger. I'd almost rather have the Jeep.

They could have at least gave her a Challenger, being the only other decent thing they make.

Better than anything else Chrysler makes. Very low bar, for sure.

I still don't like then you want a new truck nothing about this vehicle is right anymore, you need them to put a new motor in it if they say it's fine then they can sell it as a used motor but you need a new engine or new truck ask the manager if he feels safe letting you drain oil out of his personal car or truck and letting him drive it till it shuts of and drive it back fill it with oil and just keep on driving? You think he will tell you sure lets do that I have no problem? No you think your tech is goin to say sure? No!! Stop being a child OP!! Your not a douch bag if you get a lawyer cause there being pricks!!!!! There's not one person on planet earth that will except this to happen to there engine and BELIVE that it's still as good as new!!!!! Or even if there was no damage you think there evening going to do everything they say?, there bull shitting you cause your being nice ... Read this and respond I'm dying to hear what your going to defend them with right now and what your going to say as to why your not going to get a lawyer maybe I missed somthing!!

First off FORGET THE DEALERSHIP. They are covering their own ass financially. That is a warranty issue, workmanship issue and powertrain. Go over the dalership and direct to Toyota corporate, that dealership OWNS that engine. Nothing less, they offer anything less get a lawyer.

I think your grammar is a good enough reason for OP to not listen to your "advice".

Relative has a V6 charger, has almost 200 K on it, he's been very happy, said he'll have to drop some coin on front end and suspension work [shocks, and steering parts and such] but seriously, at 200K that isn't bad and totally expected from ANY make or model vehicle.

What is sad is if Toyota was a good after the sale as my local Dodge dealer, I'd be the guy in the Toyota commercial jumping in the air because frankly, they suck and suck hard. They suck so hard that I bought another brand a few weeks ago to replace my 19 year old daily driver because I didn't want to deal with them any more then I have to now. Like Toyota, don't like their dealers or their asinine pricing on work which seems to be 3 times the going rate of the same service elsewhere even from the actual dealer service center.

OP. This dealer is trying to save about 5000. The dealership will have insurance to cover an item like this, and that would likely be their deductible. You are giving up a long running solid engine for their mistake, they will not be able to guarantee this engine only warranty it for future work. Have them take the truck in trade for a like truck, they are a dealer they can do that easily. Lastly stop trusting people you are CERTAIN have already proved should not be trusted. They are looking out for themselves you should do the same.

What is this talk of changing the short block? OP, if you tell them that you want a new short block it will sound like you don't know what you're talking about and they may try to push you around.

    all tore up already
short block = without heads. really not much need to change the heads in this scenario unless the engine got seriously hot. imo knowing the shop talk wouldnt make you sound uneducated...

Unless you buy into some maintenance package, warranty work can be done at any reputable private shop. Some folks don't like working on vehicles and that's fine. To each his own. I don't like servicing the auto trans anymore because it's a PITA on these trucks, so I take it to my shop. They have a solid rep, back their work, and don't try to upsell me for crap the truck doesn't need. If your local dealer is hosing you, I'd say seek out a good local shop. It may take some research because a lot of them are jive artists too. Once you find the real deal, you'll be a happier camper.

The engine was ran without for an extended period of time without oil. The cam journals and lobes have accelerated wear.

Lastly you can bet if you brought your truck in without oil by yourself all warranty would be denied on your power train that dealership would not hesitate to deny work and parts to you.

I'm late to the BBQ but this is unacceptable. If the dealer did this with my truck I'd be going as far as litigation if they refused to replace the parts associated with any damage that might be done with oil starvation. Would they warranty your engine if you changed your oil and something went wrong because of the oil change you made????? No.

Dodge dealerships are good after the sale because they have to make up for their shit vehicles. I'm on my third Tacoma and I've never had to take it to a dealership for any reason other than to buy oil filters.
