Yea it looks awesome! I shouldn't have said a better spot. Just lookin for another option because we might be up there for a few days. I've only been in that area once a few years ago for the Blues and Brews festival.

No paint. It's polished like a vintage Airstream.

Thanks, found his thread. Looks like hes doing a 5x10, that will be cool to follow and motivate me to get my own going.

Yes, I'll be buying a 5x10 or 5x8 from Yucaipa trailers and then converting into a enclosed expo trailer

    Gonna be awesome! I'm excited!!

We can help eachother out along the way haha. I'm gonna cut the suspension off of the stock trailer and probably buy a new axle for it along with all new leaf hardware and a new set of YJ leaf springs. I'll throw some beefy tires on it and start decking out the inside for comfort along with putting a couple windows and a vent inside

Any specs to take into consideration when buying or should I just go with the most basic one at the size I want? Im not gonna be expecting to go through much rough terrain, so I probably wont mod the suspension. More like a setup for a long trip in the desert or baja.

Honestly bro I'm kinda going in blind. I think a 5x8 or 5x10 will accommodate my needs. I plan on making mine capable of doing some overlanding and I'm gonna insulate it to keep me, the wife, the kiddo, and the dog warm. It kinda depends on what you think you can handle as far as your skills and working on the modifications that you want to tackle. The only thing that I'm really picky about is the size and the door configuration. I want one with a side door and double opening doors in the rear. Everything else I'll cut, weld, etc... that needs to be done

I have literally zero experience with this, but I would get the 5x10 over the 5x8.. little bit more space for sleeping and storage, at least at the same time!

That's my plan. I'm trying to go as small as I can for least amount of weight but I think 5x8 will be a little too small

This is custom built on a 1.5" square tube frame. I didn't build it though. Nor did I build my last one. I just modify them. I'm not good with wood.

Anyways for good inspiration, check out Expedition Portal and Tnttt.com.

My buddy Jeff's trailer was super freakin cool! http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/73403-Jeff-s-Cargo-Conversion

Got ya. Im thinking bigger because my wife loves to pack and Im on the bigger side. As far as mods I think I would put in some sort of wood frame since I dont weld but in general will probably keep things pretty simple. Water and fuel storage would be needed. Cutting windows sounds interesting.

Yeah dude 5x10 would be the way to go!

Simplicity is best. Don't want to over complicate things. Just make things comfortable!
Cutting the windows would be easy. Sawzall right through that sucka and plug in a trailer window. There is a place called teardrop trailer parts online that you can get the windows.

If I hadn't gotten the deal I did on my new-to-me teardrop, I was going to do a cargo trailer conversion. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want! I liked the idea of the cargo trailer because it could double as a toyhauler.

I think most people bring them down a dirt road, unhitch, and go wheel. It would be nice to have a multi day trip where I don't have to tear down camp every day.
