Wanted to see if anyone was interested in hitting a trail close to Reno, or North Lake Tahoe area. While I've done some research online and found a few recommended trails like Ellis Peak/Blackwood Canyon Trail, I don't have any personal experience with trails in this area so I'm open to suggestions. I prefer something that is rated moderate to easy, and prefer traveling from east to west. I figure we can meet at the trail head around 9:30am Sunday (30th) morning. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Again I've never been on this trail, but this is what I'm seeing on the trail guides:

    Length: Roughly 20.7 miles
Time: Trail books say 4 hours, but plan on it taking 6-7 hours for site seeing
Rating: Moderate, meaning stock 4x4 vehicles with high clearance should be fine
Com: CB minimum, HAM and a CB even better
Initial Meet up Time & Location: 9:30am @ 310 W River Road, Tahoe City CA 96145 (Chevron Gas Station)

If you're interested let me know.

Ellis has some pretty nice views and is worth the effort.

    Hey George,

Great seeing you and your son on Sunday. How is the upcoming Sunday looking? Are you still doing the shock mount relocation? If not, we'd love to have you join us.

Thanks Michael but it looks like Sunday is gonna be my only day to do it so unfortunately I won't be able to make it.

Snow will be here soon so let's make a point to get the kids out.

I apologize but due to all the heavy rain, this trip is being pushed back 1 week, November 6th (Sunday).
Same meeting placing 310 W River Road, Tahoe City CA 96145 (Chevron Gas Station) and time (9:30am)

I don't recommend the left shortcut from Ellis Peak back into Tahoma. But the gate is usually unlocked at the bottom. Awesome trip. Ellis Peak hike is amazing.

I may be interested in tagging along this Sunday if this is still on. I have been wanting to check out Ellis Peak for a while now but haven't had anyone else to go with.

I don't have a CB though unless someone has an extra handheld they would be willing to let me borrow.

Hello. Pretty new to the Tacoma and TW. Would love to go on this trip but I have stuff I just can't get out of Sunday. Been wanting to do this trip for sometime myself as well. I assume a stock Tacoma TRD Off Road can run this trail without issue? What about the hike on top to Ellis peak? How long and rigorous is it?

Really hoping to start meeting up for some Norcal Tacoma folks for some off road drives. Had my truck for 3 months now and need to start really breaking her in. If I can't make this one I will keep my eye out for other coming up.

This trail is rated moderate, so a stock TRD OR 4x4 should be fine.

Curious if you made it up to Ellis Peak this past weekend? If so, how were the trail conditions towards the top... did you hit any snow or has it all melted by now?? I wanted to go last weekend but had too much going on. I will be in Tahoe Saturday and Sunday this weekend will hopefully check out Ellis Peak while I'm there.

Curious if there is too much snow up there to prevent runnng some of these trails?
