i would try first gen shocks and see if they work cause I'm looking for shock(strut) to get rid off the spacer. also. I'm thinking first gen might work cause if you look at pictures they don't have the 3" piece of extra length at the bottom of shock. like the second gen 6lug. I've been looking at the icon ones.. and the first gen one declares 0-3" . the 5lug one declares 0-2.5" and they look identical so maybe the first gen one will work and get an extra .5" height. ask first gen guys for an old strut and see if it fits.. icon even makes a heavier spring for there first gen strut as well. so try and find a strut with those springs you are talking about. and then share the knowledge bro.

If there's no definite reason why a longer shock and spring combination can't be utilized in the same manner as the 6-lug lifts, I'd rather just pull the specs off of the stock 5-lug shock and spring, add the additional length that a spacer lift would give and find a set of coilovers that will fit those new specs (and all other variables).

Yes! That would be fantastic. Let me sketch out which measurements I'll need and I'll post in the morning.

it looks like the 1st gen strut will work . the first pic is 1st gen. second pic is are struts . the fist gen strut is 3" smaller then the 2nd gen pre runner strut and that 3" piece of pipe at the bottom of all the struts we see makes them 3" longer so they don't fit but the first gen strut don't have that piece. (1st gen 5100 series is 13.86" collapsed , 18.66" extended) 2nd gen 5100 series 17.03" collapsed , 22.56" extended ) subtract the numbers and its 3" smaller collapsed , and 4" extended. only thing is the 2" piece of shock below the spring might hit the control arm. cause with the 4600 series there is only 1/4" of an inch of space at full extend.with the truck up on a jack . but that might not matter. with the weight of the truck being compressed. cause when it sits on the ground level that got away.

only thing is there is no brake line bracket. go news is the first gen is ride height adjustable. but they seem to be about 100 each. and you my need uca. maybe not. won't know until somebody tries. after some more looking at other struts from other sites the 04'pre strut in stock form . the body length is 1.5" longer. so ultimately from that you could dump the spacer cause its 1.5" in height. but the 04' pre 1st gen strut has 1" less wheel travel so it might bottom out more. if you got the ride height adjustable you could get more lift. then with the spacer. keep in made I'm just trowing shit out there . from site finding.

Do you know the total length of the springs uncompressed in the stock 1st gen vs 2nd gen?

no. but the local auto part store has a complete strut assembly instock 1st gen its a monroe so I'm just going to buy it and see if it fits. it also shows 5.5" of wheel travel instead of the 3" and 18" extended instead of 16" the compressed #" was the same so its misleading info.i was getting the info from monroe site for the monroe strut. but the auto part store shows different numbers for same strut. so i guess a test fit will solve the issue. don't expect that info for a few days. its to nice outside. nicest day so far for months I'm going to do something fun........................

well with tax it was 120.00 so left it there plus i was afraid they might not take it back if it had scrapes . i went and ordered the cheapest one i could find eBay 50bucks with shipping and 30 day return. its a shoxtec 8031528L tosser. probably not even worth the return shipping.
