Amy good gorilla build

I am beginning my build of an 03 Tacoma doublecab. Bought the truck in july with 160k on it. Drove it home ran awesome. Had the 3.4L auto tranny and 2wd pre-runner with e-locker rear diff.

My plans for the immediate future:
5.7L Vortec 350 SBC
nv4500 transmission
t-case, undecided, np205/ dana 300/ eventually an atlas
Dana 60 kingpin front axle 3 linked and full hydro steering
14 bolt rear axle 4 linked


That's on deck soon. I started mocking up the engine and transmission in. Ill post up some pics soon.

Oh hells to the yes.

Any chance I could get you to tally up your costs after just the engine swap is done? I'm planning to do almost exactly the same with my next project.

 

Yea I could get a tally, I bought a whole entire 99 Tahoe with 5.7 in it. Took what I needed:

engine, with harness,
dash harness, (didn't need it but oh well)
gas tank and fuel lines
airbox and all the other stuff attached to the engine

Then started parting out the Tahoe.

Ended up making 150 bucks after it was all said and done!

Then I shipped off the engine harness to make it stand alone. That was 400 bucks.

 

current update:

moved this summer so the build has slowed down/stopped. The new house has a stupid steep driveway but we might be moving across the street to a better spot. Truck is on the trailer at the storage unit awaiting surgery.

But I finished up the 3 link in the front. Front axle is welded in solid on 18 ORI struts.

Engine, tranny, crawlbox and t case are mocked in place and somewhat welded in for the cross country journey it took. Need to build my tranny/tcase mount and skids. I ended up putting a behemoth drivetrain crawlbox infront of my np 205. I rebuilt the 205 to allow for twin sticks and front dig. So I will have some pretty low gearing options when I cut it to low low.

The rear end has the 14 bolt wedged into place on the stock suspension setup. Once I get the front end fully welded (link mounts etc) I will spin the truck around in the garage, take the bed off and start 4 linking the rear.

I moved the front axle forward about a foot id say. Mocked placement for 44" tires. with enough room to clear the firewall.

I plan to keep the interior as stock as I can. With the exception of a triple stick tower in the tranny tunnel. And upgraded seats with 5 point harness. New stereo obviously.
Ill get some more pics uploaded as I can. Maybe when we move into the new house.

 

Alright next update:

I pulled the 5.7 out and went with a 6.0 vortec. Im currently working on the rear 4 link with 18" ORIs.
