It was fun going to town with the plasma cutter though!

Frame is rotted out. Started to tear it down last summer, the plan was to patch and brace but the rust was far worse than I thought. Found out about the service campaign with only a couple months left due to moving and didn't get it back to a drivable state in time. Missed the March deadline, pleaded with the dealership, filed a case with corporate and got told to EAD. So now I'm parting out a lot of stuff till I find a donor frame... or do a complete part out, keep going back-and-forth.

I should mount the axel right under the access doors

Damn I don't understand why tacomas have shitty frames compared to 4runner

 

99% it will save you! By protecting your radiator, oil pan, steering rack, transmission and transfercase. It doesn't matter if you dent it. Seen many people land really hard on skid plates and drive home. Better be safe then sorry.

 

Yea..skid plates.. The item were discussing is 10g steel. That will bend right into the front diff causeing just as much damage as not having one. It's barely thicker than the factory "splash pan".

 

Just wanna say thanks for all the heads up about the crappy skid. The order was cancelled and now I am waiting for Monday to place an order with rci

Any input on this. why has my axle shifted. could it be a broken center pin? I check the leaf springs and they are good

 

Looks like broken or bent center pin. @Firebird knows all about that

 

Yea I think so, only way to find out is to take the entire pack apart
