    Also happens with SouthEast Toyota.

It does have some positive aspects; you can get stuff like the power tailgate lock and rear seat USB power outlets preinstalled and covered by factory warranty like I did.

Generally if a truck is already on the lot you're stuck with the add on stuff. With mine since I ordered (though they found one in allocation) my dealer got me ONLY what I wanted and added nothing else. I even avoided the b.s. ToyoGuard.

Are people having issues after the flash? My truck just rolled 500 miles tonight, and it does seem to gear hunt every once in a while. I haven't had it out on the freeway much so I'm not sure how it'll do using cruise and such.... heck it's not even past the 1000 mile learning time yet lol.

Just an update. My 2017 TRD Sport was fine. ATF was good and no update required.

No update required because it came from the factory updated or you're not experiencing any symptoms so no need to update?

A liter is a liter there are no different versions
3.78 liters is one gallon U.S.
4.00 liters is one gallon Imp.
    1 qrt. is 0.946 liters.
3 and 2/4 of a liter is jibberish. Should be said 3 and 1/2 liters. I doubt it was that low?

No issues. I just wanted to make sure the fluid was ok. Since I've read that some 17's are coming up with the same problem as the 16's

So my truck just arrived at the out-of-state dealership I'm buying from. I had requested they check the ATF fluid manually since it won't be until Friday that I fly down and pick up the truck. He said it was checked this morning. I'm highly skeptical they physically checked it. But what can I do besides take his word? I was hoping to ensure Friday didn't take up all day at the dealership by having it checked ahead of time. Maybe I should have asked them to do it the day of.

i dont understand why checking the ATF levels is made out to be such a hassle....from my understanding of the PDF it's only a matter of using a hex bit to remove overflow to check level, and then fill from the "refill" until the overflow overflows. hope my dealer doesn't give me problems about this

No it won't. They legally can't refuse just because you took it some where else and it won't void anything unless you have a special warranty set up with your dealer to get free service

Really? Dang, those bastards lied to me.

I went to a second dealership and they said that since I previously got my TSB done at another dealership, they can't perform any diagnostics or any repairs to my vehicle because they won't be reimbursed by Toyota for their services done to my truck. I thought to myself, this doesn't make any sense. How or why would me going to another dealership, affect them? Why won't Toyota reimburse them? My truck is clearly under warranty.

Do you have any documentation on that so that I can show it to them so that they can check my fluid levels and we can bypass that excuse of previously getting it done in another dealership?

Wow. It might be up to state laws if you go to a private shop effecting the warranty, but I think that too is a federal thing. The dealer telling you they won't because you went to another dealer is total bs. Not sure why they didn't want to work on your truck. You should call toyota Corp and ask them, they would probably like to hear what dealer is saying that. You can go to any dealer and they will honor toyota warranty

That's what I was thinking! That's such a weak excuse.

Okay, that's a good idea, I should probably call Corporate and see what they think.

Should I wait until my 6 month / 5,000 mile check up to follow up or should I just call them ASAP so that I can get my ATF fluids checked?

I don't think the TSB helped at all because the truck still lurches and it's still a minor delay engagement when cold.

I'm supposed to pick mine up in january
already told them I will not take delivery UNTIL they check it and give me all the paper work to prove they checked it properly.

Luckily the dealer I'm getting it from they are aware of it and said they have been checking every one

Should probably call them soon. If you wait that long then they are likely going to tell them that the person no longer works there or something, plus that's 6 months of them handing out misinformation to people. The person you talked to might have just been mistaken and didn't know. Again, they do get paid for the work so not sure why they would turn you down unless it's time consuming and low pay job. Good luck

From what I am reading, it's much more involved than that. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

As for me, I've had my truck a week now. I'm over 100 miles from my dealer. I have no symptoms that would indicate low fluid. I would likely have to take a day off work to take the truck back to the dealer to get this checked.

I've done my own service work for 20 years now (oil changes, brake jobs, diff fluid changes, etc) but I swear after just reading the directions on how to check and fill the fluid in this transmission I'm dumbfounded. Do I think I can do it? probably. Do I want to? Hell NO.

So, what do I do? Wait until symptoms show up? Wait until my free oil change at 5K and make them check it then? I'm going to do my own oil change at 1K then take advantage of the free one at 5K.

    Thoughts?

If you're not having any symptoms, then maybe not. But my symptoms didn't start until about 200 miles in, got it checked (thanks to this forum) just under 800 miles, and was 2 quarts low. Most issues were resolved after fluid was topped off. If no issues by your 5k check, then it would just be for your own peace of mind, and if you have it checked, then make an appointment explaining you want the fluid manually checked, it took 6 hours for me because it had to cool down for them to check it. You may even have to leave it overnight.

BTW, the first oil change is 10k, according to the service booklet, unless you request otherwise.

Just finished having the dealer check my transmission fluid manually. It was at the correct level. TRD OR DCSB 4X4 AT built on Mexico on 10/13/16.

On a 100 mile trip today, I realized how much this thing hate any type of incline while using cruise. I might just take it in on Friday to have fluid checked and the TSB done.

East Madison Toyota in Madison, Wisconsin is where I picked up mine yesterday. We had a 5pm appointment. I emailed my sales guy at 1pm yesterday saying I am concerned about the ATF level. When I got there he told me it isn't a dipstick anymore, but they took it into the shop opened her up and found the level was correct. Hour job, but were glad to do it to ease my concerns.
