I'm looking to move back into photography...once had a full 35mm Pentax outfit. I've been dabbling with various point & shoots and it's time for an upgrade.

I spent a lot of time outdoors, so I don't want a full sized DLSR setup to haul around. And, I want something better than the point & shoot outdoor cameras.

A friend has a Nikon Coolpix P7100 and that seems to be what I'm looking for (I wish it had a little longer lenses though).

It seems that the Nikon Coolpix 7800 was the last one they made and it's discontinued and no replacement has been announced.

Any experience or recommendations on other brands that have models similar to the Coolpix P7800?

    Thanks in advance.
