Pick-up vs. Prerunner

Out of curiosity, I wanted to see what my current 2015 DCSB TRD Sport is worth. When I jumped onto Kbb.com, there is multiple options that came up. Anyone have an idea of what the difference is between pick up and prerunner on kbb? Both offer TRD packages and 2wd when I select each option.

 

Prerunner is 2wd.

Pick up is probably 5 Lug basic 2wd.

 

That's what I thought but when I ran the numbers, the value was higher with the 5 lug which doesn't seem rightp

 

See if there is a pickup for tye 2016 and that might answer your question. There are no 5lugs after 2015.

My guess would be that pickup is any non prerunner 6 lug pickup. Its weird that it differs by year.

 

Hmmm If that were the case, a pick up would be 6 lug sr5 and by kbb values, it has a higher value then my TRD prerunner

Nope. Made sure it was marked 2wd drive. Still came out the same. Here's another thing I found between the 2.

Prerunner - 2wd only with TRD packages as options

Pick up - 2wd and 4wd with TRD packages

 

Very very strange.

 

Not all 2wd tacomas are a prerunner. Prerunner is a package.

 

Their descriptions of a PreRunner do NOT do a decent job in distinguishing between a true 4-door and an Access Cab - both do have 4 doors.
