Given the pump's location, if it sucks water, you've got bigger problems than what IT adds to your exhaust.

The pump is pretty much located on the top of your engine and only activates during start up on 2012's and also shut down 13+ so you shouldn't suck down any water from it unless you're submerging it. Like someone else said, if you're submerged to that point, you'd have bigger problems.

    CurtB,
You just saved me a lot of money! Not to mention my valuable time. I found your p2432 problem and air sensor plug with the single wire nibbled off close. I had the same exact problem with my Tacoma. From your hard experience I employed the same exact solution. I only needed an exact-o knife and a pencil soldering iron, which I already had, and the help of my wife to hold the plug. How often does that happen? Now how do I prevent the pest from coming back and causing more damage? I'd like to express my gratitude in a more tangible way. Do you have a favorite restaurant nearby?
    Kindest, Chris

Awesome, you just made my day. I just posted here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/p2432-code.454103/

Read that, and also A moth block, which is moth balls in a block (duh) will help keep them bastards out. Smells bad and it needs to be removed from the top of the valve cover each time you drive the truck, but it will keep them out.

You don't owe me anything, just pay it forward. And welcome to TW!

I think the $1400 you're talking about is a combination of pump and valves. I think the list price for the parts were around $650-750. $550 is a bid deal when it's for a 2015. According to Toyota's website, Emissions related parts are either cover for 3yr/50K or 7yr/70K.

Did a search for 2005 tacoma air injection pump on google, and found the pumps for 160 bucks. Not sure where all these BS numbers are coming from, but just google search and be amazed.

I am not talking about Toyota OEM from the stealership, but a replacement for a truck with 170k from 2005. It will serve its purpose for the very short time it runs during Closed Loop on startup.

I believe the 2.7 parts are cheaper as well, my valve set for my truck cost $500 and that was the cheapest I could find at the time. Toyota was only source for that as well.
