I just finished reading consumer report's owner satisfaction for the compact pickup trucks survey and am surprised at their findings. Overall they rate the 2017 Ridgeline on top at 75 and the Tacoma at the bottom with a 41 rating. GMC and Chevrolet filled in the middle with a 56. Again this is supposed to be owner satisfaction. Their predicted reliability for Tacoma is poor in the survey. I own a 2014 Tacoma and just passing this information along. Toyota Tundra is on top of the full size pickup survey at 67.

How can they possibly have enough data on the Ridgeline? it's only been on the streets for what 2-3 months?

How can they be doing consumer satisfaction on 2017 Tacomas already? They've only been out for a month and a bit.

I wouldn't use this information to base a purchase on. Most ridgeline owners are not using it as a truck. It has a nice ride no doubt, and I am sure a family will be satisfied making a trip to the mall or football games. Ridgeline owners are not going to be so judgemental. Tacoma owners bought it to use as a truck and are truck enthusiasts and therefore know when something is not up to standards. Someone who knows trucks is going to be more particular as opposed to someone who wants a car with a bed.

I'm surprised that they didn't throw Tundra down the list for its mpg.

I'm not sure about nice ride. I heard it's loud as rest of the hondas, so I don't know how is that can be a nice ride. I had 2008 pilot and it was loud and rough piece of doo-doo! At same time I had 2009 Nissan Frontier and it waaaaay smoother and quitter (with short muffler)

I believe this in there survey. The Honda Ridgeline is a very smooth comfortable ride. So I am sure if not a lot of issues their customers are extremely happy. The geographic of most ridgeline owners so not use this truck to off road like the Tacoma. I sold my 16 Tacoma and still miss it and got a 16 diesel Colorado z71 and it just does not drive as fun and not good off road compared to the Tacoma. Plus I like the Tacoma in and out looks better too. Hate the ridgeline looks but loved the ride it gives. It is truly a crossover style ride with a bed that is beefed up and nice if you are coo with the looks and don't get series off road. The Colorado is nice and I love the diesel power train and the adjustable seats. Ride is good but not near as good as Ridgeline and even the Tacoma seemed to handle better and sportier drive to it. Smooth ride and quite ride is close between the 2. I test drove a 17 Tacoma today off road 4x4 and I sold my sport dbl cab 4x4 in January and it rode rougher than the off road and I do think the quality of interior is better in the Tacoma and more solid. All good trucks in my opinion just what each likes or wants it for. My issue was seat position and comfort but think maybe from coming out of crew tundra it bothered me and even my Colorado isn't great and seats are harder in Colorado just better seat position but I think now after driving the off road 17 id be ok and seat was softer. I think resale down the road the Tacoma will prevail again in my opinion. Wish they would offer diesel too that is one factor on my Colorado that is very nice and I get over 28 mpg average and easily get 30 plus hyw if not over 75 mph. I wouldn't put too much into all this this early because Toyota will come out on top just like the tundra. I have always favored Toyotas.

It is actually pretty quiet. I test drove the ridgeline a couple times. The thing that I didn't like was the ground clearance/suspension.

I can't believe that they improved suspension after so many years of crappie suspension. Good for them.
Did you test drive on Hwy by any chance? Just curious, not that I'm going to trade any of my Toyotas but interested how is it on Hwy.
    Thanks.

I did test on Hwy for the first test drive. That's when I was on the fence of what to get. Then went back to ask if I could take it on the roads I travel most. That is when I made my mind up, No Ridgeline for me. If you live in a state that actually maintains the roads, the RL is not bad, but where I live, not good at all. I felt it bottom out a few times. Hwy driving is a big difference. It rides like a luxury car on the hwy, good power, smooth shifting, low profile does help it hug the road, but I rarely travel on the hwy.

Nothing just yet. Have my mind set on a TRD Sport, Inferno with black interior. Daughters college expenses were a bit more than anticipated, so truck is on hold for now.

Nice, hopefully Toyota will fix all issues by the time you ready to purchase. I'm sure you read about it on here.
    Good luck!

I am not too concerned with those issues. I have a good relationship with my local dealer that I bought my wife's 2015 Hot lava Rav4 at, and if they fail me, I can drive across the bridge and visit the other dealership that a manager there is a Tacoma owner and member here. I know it will be taken care of.

I love that people bitching about stupid noises makes the reliability prediction poor.
