Morning ya'll. Picked up a cold, so working from home today. Started thinking about upcoming mods (of course)
Damn front mud flaps are hitting my side steps and marking the plastic. I figure it's time to trim or replace. I heard the Husky flaps are nice, but they don't exactly match in color and texture. Anyone have experience with those? If those don't work, going to remove the front ones and run them through a band saw. Can't believe they flex so badly. Must look stupid at highway speeds.

That's the first thing i did with my truck was remove those stupid looking mud flaps . I even did the same to my 82 Toyota 4x4 truck , removed them 5 days after I bought the truck new off the lot

I'm thinking there are a couple of different types out there, mine were hard plastic and didn't flex at all. On my last rig I took the flaps off and destroyed the rocker panels with stones hitting them. I spend a lot of time on gravel roads and my tires throw a lot of rocks especially after coming back on to pavement. I always like to keep OEM parts and didn't want to modify them so picked up the Weather tech ones which are almost identical to hard plastic OEM. I cut them down then used plastic rivets to secure fiberglass reinforced ones to the ones I cut down. So I have the best of both worlds and don't rip up my rockers with stone chips. Still get a lot of pinging on the sliders though, even with flaps it isn't 100% protected but pretty close.

In any event I can tell you that you want to get a bag of plastic clips if you replace them. Clips and fasteners has them a lot cheaper than the Toyota Dealer. https://www.clipsandfasteners.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=A21011

When we rolled through yesterday that were a few sprinkles. I'm up in NoCal now and it's been raining since we left Woodland. Typical rain for here but a year and a half's worth of rain for us!

Well I got my first real look at my truck today. The waterpump and timing belt were already changed last year but, as I thought, the tires are 10+ years old and one has a little separation going on...so on the trailer it goes.

    Pictures tomorrow.
