So I made one of these about 4 months ago on my CNC and had a lot of fun shooting him full of holes. Nothing like putting my scope on the target 50 yards down range and putting holes in a zombie. Fun target and that oh so sweet metal "ting."

This one is 3/16" thick mild steel and is about 24" tall. 22LR doesn't even dent it, 9mm leaves a dent, 5.56 punches right through and there is some .308 on there too. This is not an AR500 target that can take a continued beating without braking, its a simple metal target to punch more holes in than paper.

Was curious if you guys might be interested in a run of these bad boys, or maybe some other stuff. I am thinking $40 plus shipping for a target with two rebar stakes to pound into the ground (so it won't twist when hit). Un-painted, spray with whatever paint you keep for targets. I can do a few other of the popular ideas in the same size. If someone wants something one off I can do that as well and prices can be discussed.

This is not a for sale thread, just seeing if people like this idea as much as I do! Lets talk about some ideas and if we can come to a common theme I can make a bunch as required. I know I love mine and will be making a few more for myself!

I'd definitely be interested! With the wind here that would work better than a paper silhouette

Just remember steel targets like that are a lot more likely to throw some weird ricochets, especially with any ball ammo. Keep a safe distance and wear eye protection.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Honda Ridgeline targets could become popular

Great point! I am for sure an amateur when it comes to shooting.

One of the advantages of AR500 is the resistance to dimple. For close shots, you want flat steel, otherwise you can get some kickback you wouldn't normally have. Even with flat AR500, I have had some jacket material come back farther than I thought it would. With mild steel, if it doesn't pass through, you really have no idea where the bullet material will end up.

It's an extreme example, but I'm sure you've seen the video of the .50 cal round coming back and knocking off the guys ear muffs. I worry more about bits of jacket material in my eyes, as that doesn't take a big piece or much energy to cause major damage.

Mild steel will certainly work, just don't get too close.

Eye protection is a must no matter what you are shooting or shooting at. Like you said it won't take much to ruin your vision. I'd be using it out on the rifle range for my ARs at 100+ yards.
