I didn't think it turned all that shitty. Hell....for a 3rd gen thread, this would be considered a love fest.

    nothing cool
I don't off-road any but we can get some killer snow here in the Midwest. If I didn't have a job in the medical field where I HAVE to get to work no matter what I'd probably get a PreRunner. But sometimes (most times) I leave for work before the snow plows make it out. So I need my 4x4 a few times a year.

Good looking truck.... For a 4x2. Ha! Just kidding.

I have no issues with the rear wheel drive Taco. I wouldn't buy it personally because I live
in the snow belt. But if I still lived in the south, it certainly would be a viable option. Enjoy
    modding your pre-runner.

    I own both a PreRunner and a 4wd.

I love them equally, if not the PreRunner a little more simply because it was my first Tacoma. She has always done what I've asked of her and more.

In my opinion, be proud of your Tacoma regardless of engine, power train, model, etc. Its your truck. Not someone else's. As long as you do the basics and don't try to break physics with her, she'll never let you down.

I've been enjoying my prerunner. But my next truck way down the line will be 4x4. No rush though my 2wd has gotten me through some fun trails all over san Bernardino mts

Figured I'd jump in as well... 4x2 here... I commute 75% of the time.. offroad 25% of the time.. gas and usability and maintenance was a big factor for me outside of initial cost..

I had a base sr5.. added a truetrac.added wider rims and better tires and suspension ..carry a hi lift and winch chains and a set of TREDS with me for the beach.. just in case.

For the offroading here in socal.. I rarely get stuck...

I love my little 5 lug. I didn't research enough on them, but I don't regret buying it. I love the truck because it has yet to let me down. I hopefully will have enough money in 5 or 10 years to purchase a 4x4 v6, but for now I will enjoy my abilitys, and test them to their limits. 4x2s have limits yes, but its really what you do with it. 4x4 is a better design for off roading, but that doesnt mean we can't have fun in our 4x2s just be safe, and have a friend.
