You are right, manufacturers are really dialing in how deep dish wheels work with wind and improving performance, it's almost cheating. I have been looking at used wheels but will probably go with Flo's or Williams for my new bike. The Flo's especially, are tough to beat for price and performance.

I got to watch the swim start, pro men and pro women getting out of the water, and a bit of the bike, then I had to sleep. Being in a time zone 11 hours off from PST made it difficult. I woke up in time to watch Rinny (favorite female athlete) finish, then I went to work.

I still haven't figured out what happened to Potts, he is one of my favorite athletes, I know they showed him training on a new Canondale with aero brakes and stuff but he raced on the old bike that doesn't have that.

Those are respectable times. Nicely done!! Sounds like there was some adversity to overcome, but you kept forward motion. The mental battle is often the biggest aspect in this sport. So good on ya for keeping it together, and doing very well!! Top third is ALWAYS a great place to be.

And the fact that you already said it's a learning experience. That's a big one right there!!

Sounds like you had a good race to me, especially with the added less than ideal conditions. Are you hooked?

That's something I have no experience with. I'm sure it's possible though. Maybe check some YouTube videos - to see if others have had good results.

On a separate topic........ @Ras61 - you need to get into this Thread. :)

Oh, here is where all the triathletes are (all like 6 of us...)

Tilt told me to come over here. Thanks, Tilt! Hello, everyone. I swim, bike, and run a little bit...

Pretty excited to have a Retül fit today. I have had regular fits before but nothing like this. It should really dial in my fit on my current bike and give me the info I need for a new bike purchase!

Nice! You'll have to let us know how it goes. I suspect the fit will give you a range of bikes that should work for you. However, do you have a certain bike in mind?

I will, it's at 2 today, a little less then 3 hours from now. It will give me a range of bikes and my reach, stack, etc for future setups. I have 3 bikes in mind, Argon 18 E-117, Felt IA16 and the BMC TM02.

This is an awesome thread to come across. Tris and Tacos! I've been triing for a few years now but have been in a slump after an injury last summer. My next tri is escape from Alcatraz next June. I'm hoping to get an early season race or two in before then.

I do a tube, 2 co2s and a pair of tire wrenches in a small under the saddle bag. I'd hate to go into the run after pushing a bike in cycling shoes. I haven't had to use them yet but i think it's worth the extra weight.

The Retul fit process was pretty cool, took about 2 hours total with some talking about various things, sensors and a camera taking measurements, etc. I have a great idea of what bikes fit now and the plan is to go with the Argon 18 E-117, it's the only bike in my price range with hidden front and rear brakes that also fits. The cost of the fit comes off the bike which I hadn't counted on so that is nice. Ordering the bike when I get back from a much needed trip to Hawaii next week. Very excited!

It's on it's way! They didn't have my size so I had to order it, should be here this week. The wait is killing me, I have my old bike sold.

Oh yeah, I went with the Argon 18 E-117, pics as soon as it's built!

    Ouch!!
I just did the treadmill. But it was no 4 am!!
I'm still hitting up some of my training. But it's taking a backseat for the past bit. We're attempting to sell our current house - and that's put us into renovation/cleaning/de-cluttering mode. Quite the training regime, right there. lol

I refuse to run on the dreadmill, I don't care what the weather is like, I just run outside, wind, snow, rain, etc. My worst early am workout was getting on the bike trainer at 1:30am and riding 80 miles so I could get done before going to work.

Good luck with getting everything done for the house and getting it sold!

Finally have an appointment to pick up my bike this Saturday including making sure my fit is right and everything is dialed in.

It feels amazing, at least for the 80 minutes I have on it so far. I am still getting used to the seat, it's a demo seat (Fizik Tritone) that I am testing, I hope I like it. It very firm but has some nice features including integrated bottle and flat kit holding capabilities.

Thanks! Good luck with the weather, it's snowy and cold here, I think we will see single digits for lows in the next day or two. That's a serious amount of running you have scheduled there! Trail or paved races?
