What up fellas. So twice in the last week, i have stopped to aid broken down drivers. Just trying to be a good citizen. My intention with both was to rig a tow strap to their front end and pull them out of traffic, to safety. First one was an elderly couple in a PT Cruiser stalled on the Colorado bridge here in Pasadena. I got in front of them and spent the next 5 minutes looking for a recovery point. DID NOT EXIST. Then AAA showed up. The elderly lady gave me a hot dog and a sprite and said thank you for stopping. Last friday was the other incident, way more sketchy. I just got off work in Van Nuys, got on the 134 West, going thru Glendale, I'm in the fast lane and traffic comes to a complete halt, quickly. Ford Ranger, stalled, kid was about 20, didn't have AAA. Again, i pull in front of him, traffic flying by on both sides, people honking and yelling, get out the tow strap and again, searched for recovery point on his vehicle. DID NOT EXIST. So i hook up to part of the frame under the engine and pull him slowly across 4 lanes of flying traffic to the emergency shoulder. Needless to say, I'm done playing hero. From now on i will call 511, the free highway service patrol. Just don't understand why there are no recovery points on these newer vehicles. Rant over.

Good on you for trying though. I thought most cars had some sort of tow point hidden behind/under the front bumper. I'll have to start looking for them in parking lots to be sure.

Should have posted that when they asked in that thread if there were any injuries. Nobody has fessed up to being "that guy", but the only ones I know with a white 3rd gen is @socalktk and @Z50king and it wasn't either of them, so that's good.

I saw that photo on the SCOR facebook group... someone mentioned it was young kids in their early 20s. Probably totaled. :(

Most likely. Airbags deployed. That's usually an automatic total. "My dad's going to be pissed." Feel bad for the kids though even if I will laugh at their expense. Your first accident will change the way you drive. I remember mine- (19 years old). Still, looks like they walked away with nothing but a bruised ego. Hope they learn from this one.

Good on you for trying to stop. I have also stopped a few times to help people in need on the side of the road.

People who text and drive, or simply drive erratically whether it simply be speeding, or weaving in and out or traffic piss me off due to the fact that they clearly have no regard for anyone else on the road. I only say this in regards to this post because I'm sure as hell if they were snap chatting or whatever off road, you can bet they do it on the streets as well. Excuse my rant lol but I drive about 70% of the day so I always see these kinds of idiots on the road.
