New to tacoma world have been creeping here for years. Just decided to post some pics for an ongoing build. It's a 3rz auto 2wd and plan to swap in a r150 manual and 4wd or just do the 4wd swap. I'be had the truck about 4 months and have done rust restoration, bodywork painting Lc80 wheels scion TC seat swap.
Should I paint the rest of the interior or keep it 2 tone.

How did the scion seats line up to the existing holes in floor? Require any fab?

Like the two tone interior. Hopefully get to see more pics in the future. You just paint the parts?

Had to cut the rivets off of the tacoma seats and scion rail feet and weld the legs of the tacoma to the scion seat rails. It's easier to swap the scion xb seats, there are a ton of writeups on it you just have to swap the seat rails. But most people say the seats end up too high. The scion TC drivers seat has seat bottom tilt and height adjustment. It's a little higher than the stock seat but I'm 6ft and think it's perfect at its lowest setting.

Stay with the 2 tone. Looks good and unique. Need to see some more exterior shots.:)
Nice paint job btw. I didn't realize until seeing this thread that it had been an actual color change. You got skills dude. Id love to hear more about the paint process. And/or see anymore pics of the process. Digging the LC80 series wheels too.
A manual 4x4 DC Tacoma would definitly be a unicorn. Look forward to seeing more about the 4x4 swap

Have you priced out the 4x4 conversion? Are you doing the work yourself or would you have a shop do it? I just picked up a 2000 Tacoma and debating whether I should do convert it to 4x4 or sell it and buy a newer truck...

I've seen swaps done for as little as a thousand to 3 thousand. It would be hard to sell this one and buying another 4x4 doublecab for 3 thousand more. I think it adds at least 4 thousand to the value and my goal is to swap it myself for around 1500. I can find part at pull it yards or craigslist. I plan to try and find a wrecked one or someone parting one on Craigslist and buy a package deal with all the parts. Sell the good parts that I pull of my truck. I would like to do manual locking hubs and keep the 4:56 rear diff and add lsd because it's simpler than elocker swap. and find a 4:56 IFS front diff. I used to be a Toyota tech in a former life. haha

Just picked up a snugtop camper shell off craigslist. these are like 1500 or more new for $100. love finding deals like this. now just have to paint it to match and add a rack to it. Then on to the 4x4 swap.

Nice find! Really looking forward to seeing how this build goes. Planning on lifting it? Also do the snugtop sides open fully?

No they windows don't open fully but the fits great. Just got bilisten 4600 for the rear plan to add a leaf in the back for weight of the shell probably 3 inches rear and billy5100 in the front with ome springs . just a mild lift and 33" duratracs would be nice.

I vote manual since you are keeping the 3RZ, auto would eat a little more power and manual you pick your gear :)

Manual swap! We could always use more swap write ups and manual double cabs are badass.

Just getting everything together for my swap. Have
W59 trans and transfer case from 95.5 tacoma package deal with.
    Manual locking hubs spindles
Front and rear axles 3:58 gears with cv's $250 plus extras I can sell.
Aisin clutch master and slave Amazon prime $30 for both like new.
Junkyard brake and clutch pedal $20
Grip force clutch w pressurplate disc and flywheel.ebay $140
Now I just need rear driveshaft front portion and probably regear font ifs non-add to 4:56 to match the rear and comfortably run 32" tires.

anyone know what rear driveshaft front portion need I think it's 31" from a 3.4 v6 4x4 auto.

How do you think 3:58 would be on a 3rz doublecab 4x4 5sp. I think I would be better to regear the front to match 4:56 rear.

Painted the topper and installed bilstine 5100 front at 1.75 perch and bilst in 4600 and summit racing add a leaf in the rear rides nice a little stiffer than the worn out suspension. I think similar to stock.
