had the dash apart today and noticed some unused harnesses behind the A/C . Wondering if the digital auto climate control would be an easy swap?? Anybody ever tried it?? Could they be "pre-wired" for it.. hmmm.

I am not sure if this was an option for the Off-road, maybe only for limited/sport models??
Heres is what I am talking about

Since its an option I bet its plug and play. Willing to bet the thermostat that regulates the auto is part of the auto unit. Now price might be another thing.

The auto still gives you option of manual too. It also allows you to set 2 different temps for passenger and driver which is nice along with auto.

why would you want to waste energy by holding two temperatures in the cab?

You're joking right? I.E. your passenger likes it colder or hotter than you. You're married right? Your wife never cranks the heat in the truck or A/C meanwhile you're like WTF? Dual climate control, welcome to the 21st century.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it is. Do you think Toyota makes two separate wiring harnesses? Granted, this was ~15 yearsMy buddy had a mustang (Back when there was way more options on cars (Not so much large packages). Bottom line, the electric trunk switch is just tucked behind the glove box taped to the wire harness. He unwrapps it, pops it thru the pre-punched hole and viola!

Very unlikely it will work. On auto/dual climate control models there is 2 blend doors, this changes the HVAC unit drastically. There is also an ambient cabin temp sensor as well. I'm sure theres more to it but this isn't a venture I'd say is worth going after.

Offroad models do get auto/dual. At least in Canada we do. All of our offroads come with dual climate control for some reason.

Here in the US it's added to the OR with the Premium & Technology package, among other various upgrades. Same as with the Sport.

It tends to quell the loud annoying noises emanating from the passenger seat.

    Far cheaper than divorce.

Please someone figure this out its the only complaint that I hear from the passenger seat every time we go for a trip more than an hour drive. You would not believe what I would spend to not have to hear (it's to hot ,it's to cold) any more.

I've had the Auto/Dual climate control on 3 previous cars... totally not worth the price. My wife never once adjusted it and both zones stayed synced up at the same temp the entire time I owned the cars. Now seat heaters... that's a completely different story. On a cold Tucson morning (50°F) my wife would crank the seat heater all the way. Still not worth the money IMHO.

This thread is the definition of first world problems. This is like my buddy in high school that seriously thought about replacing the perfectly good transmission in his Volvo with one that had an overdrive, to get better gas mileage. You can just donate $1000 to a local food pantry, and get way more satisfaction in having $1000 less in your checking account.

Move to the Northeast, or Vermont for that matter, where temperatures fluctuate 40-60* during the day.. I had a 2005 LGT and it's dual climate control saved a lot of thermostat arguments. If the cost is minor, I'm willing to swap it.
