Started out in 2wd high with shifter in L (1st gear), then went to 4wd high, last was 4Lo (with shifter in D). I do have 410 axle gears with 35x12 tires. When temp shot up I stop and idled the engine and the temp would come back down. Fan was working, and temp air was around 60 degrees. Drove 80 MPH for 3 hours to the beach and back no problems. I realize 80MPH is forcing plenty of air through the radiator.

I had 35s on my 04 taco and it would do something similar. Ironically I would notice it would get a little hot when sitting in the drive through at the bell from time to time. I eventually got a scooped hood, but when at high speeds (highway) my truck would actually cool off. I had 4.88 gears in mine. I think it just depends on the environment, did you have to air down your tires and stuff? I think driving on soft sand can push your motor a little more than hardpacked sand or roads will.

Maybe check to make sure radiator is full.

Def good point, one time my truck started to act up with the temps I realized that my radiator hadn't been flushed in over a year and the fluid inside had started to solidify. I remember talking to some tech and they said sometimes the mileage on the radiator can make it require more routine flushes. Def pop the cap and take look when you can. Also depending on your mileage, it might be worth having a professional flush as they will completely clear your radiator with the process they use so your radiator can have a full reset.

I view radiators as a consumable item. They are so cheap and easy to swap out, I just change then at 150,000-200,000 miles.

Lift info in Sig, Fabtech COs, add a leaf and 3in body lift, thank you for the complement

I did not air the tires down, did not think it would make that big of difference since I have 12.50 wide tires. 488 gear would be a welcome addition, driving back home the slight up hill grade caused a limit to what speed I could maintain without the trans down shifting too often.

In olden times we used to have rads. rodded out, now just get a new one every 10 years. No use having plastic break at the worst time.

    Air down.

Last time I was on a beach run, my transmission got too hot. I aired down to allow the tires to drive better on the sand, no more issues.
