Just went and test drove my ordered Taco, happy with it, however I am not that excited about the tires.

I talked to the dealership about changing them out, of course they said sure, what you want to buy. So I tried to get credit out of the factory ones, no go.

So they are recommending the Nitto Terra Grappler BW (P265/70R17)- installed out the door for 780.47 From what I can tell with a quick research the price seems ok.

I am looking for a good tire that will deal with snow (Maine winters), good on the road, but able to handle the summer Logging roads with some off road stuff, but no rock climbing or anything.

    Thoughts?

take the factory tires and sell them on craigslist.
I'll be doing the same thing. Just selling factories right away lol. Probably only going to have 130km on them. whatever the dealer puts on them and then the 80km to drive home and stop off at kal tire to get my winters thrown on. Then selling the goodyears on kijiji(our version of craigslist)

not sure how the nittos are but a lot of people on here have said the cooper discoverer at3 are nice and pretty decent in snow.
@Aussiek2000 said the st maxx are nice too if you're interested in those.

I can't break the bank, as is the wife is questioning why new tires already, but we will get past that.

They did suggest the KO2s, but that's not what I need. I really just think the truck needs a tougher sneaker, and from my understanding I will gain an inch with these Nittos as well.

You can go as big as 265's without messing with the suspension. I put a set of Pro Comp 265's on a client's stock SR5 and it looked great.

i took my Toyo off at 5000miles. put on 265/70/17 Falken Wildepeak AT3w.
Ended up selling my toyos for $200 and paid $550 shipped for my new falkens so was a pretty decent overall deal and really like the tires

K, thanks. So I guess the 265/70R Nitto grapplers are as big as I can go. @ $780 seems to a good price?

Bought my rims at 4 wheel parts for $90 each. Couldn't pass that up. Excurse the Bro lean, had my stock tires in the back.

Ultimately depends on what KIND of tire you want/need. I did Cooper ST MAXX for off-road purposes specifically. And they look awesome. But they aren't a "highway" or "commuter" tire.

Just be glad your Taco didn't come with Dunflop AT20's like many of the 2nd gens did!!!!
