Speaking about that stuff...

I need to start a for sale thread for all the little things I've been taking off my truck and replacing with other stuff.

Start to become a hoarder and don't want that. Plus would like to raise some funds to invest in retros to "complete" my front end... or a lift.

 

The list never ends... mine keeps getting longer the more time I spend on here..

I hear that. It started when I found this forum, and been ongoing since I paid the truck off last month. Here I was thinking I was going to be saving money, but then kept coming across all these cool little things, which add up, and... well, you know how it is.

 

i have all of my stock parts from the truck. i don't really know what the end game is but i'm afraid to get rid of them in case i need them for some reason later

I've kept mine (what few there are) just in case I want to return the truck to stock to sell it.

 

Meh, save your money. Do a color matched head light mod and stick with halogen.

I just kept mine stock so I wouldn't have this issue

 

On my last truck, I kept what I took off. Wound up just tripping over it in the basement. This one I'm selling what I replace. I moved my stock rear bumper in about two weeks after stalking a guy one street over that has an 06 with a pushed in rear bumper. He was tickled pink that I stopped as he's been calling junk yards without any luck.

Well I probably will never turn it to stock and it's paid off and I plan to never ever get rid of it. I just didn't know if they were even worth anything.

 

Paid off is a good thing! The longer you wait the harder it's going to be to sell probably if you can even sell it now anyways. I guess it depends what you can get for it. At a certain price it's better as a spare.

 

I kept all the stock pieces on my STi and ended up selling it as it sat and sold all the stock pieces later.

I sold pretty much everything I took off the '13 to finance the build.

I don't plan on going all that crazy on the new truck and plan on selling most of what I pull since I'm working with tighter funds.

I'm conflicted what to do on the Vette since I have the stock stuff. It's a higher mileage car so having it 100% original is probably not going to help the value too much. I want to change the seats to Corbeaus and the interior from gray to black. The stock seats are probably worth 50% of the Corbeaus, so it's like do I sell everything to get the parts faster or wait and store. Blah, I dunno.

 

My cousin could do that with his then-new 88 pre-Taco with the 22RE.

My 16 has one touch up and down on both front windows with retained accessory power. It's the same deal with the sunroof.

 

So you suggest no lift but retros instead?

 

He means instead of retro do the black headlight mod or in his case color matched and spend the money on the lift.

 

AH. Gotcha. Honestly not really confortable with the idea of doing it myself. Too much room for error... headlights not sealed correctly, burning the house down, etc...

 

It's actually not that bad, for me the worst part was hearing my wife give me an earful because I had car parts in the oven.

I learned a valuable lesson with retros. I know they have a good track record but you basically put a serviceable item inside the housing.

 

I had my WRX headlights retro'd with dual Bi-xenon projectors (basically 4 lo and 4 hi beams... whenever I wanted) and it was awesome however I think with the reflector cone we have in our (05-11 at least) headlights looks horrible with a small projector in it. I contemplated buying aftermarket crappy projector headlights and swapping the projectors out for something better and using just the housing. I have a guy who does my retro's for me (does a bunch of my customers etc), he's done Pilot's, Jeeps and a few other vehicles but never a Tacoma. Shouldn't be much harder but its expensive.
