My 2c. I've only had my truck for a month, but so far so good. Performed well on trails, although I haven't done anything too "hard core". That being said, I will replace them when spring comes around next year. I do a lot of field work and our company trucks run KO2's. They've been very reliable, and I would just feel better about my truck if I had a set of those on, especially for longer trips.

What is legit off-road? Just curious. He looks off the road to me.

These tires have worked well for me on several old mining roads and 4WD roads in Colorado. Most of the traffic is ATVs and jeeps on these roads and some people from out of state travel here just to drive these roads

How do these tires perform on snow covered and/or icy roads?? I will be getting my 2017 OR DCSB by the end of October and around the same time the weather can turn here in Alberta. I believe these are severe weather rated but what are real life experiences with these OEM tires?

One other thing to note about these trucks is their weight. They are heavy, unlike the 1980's trucks. Toyota chose a comfortable tire for this truck. This choice creates a ply strength compromise. For crawling the jagged rocks, it might be a good idea to buy a heavy duty tire; for a much heavier truck. I think they will have more plies. Beware: the on road smoothness will suffer a bit.

Reading the sidewall of these tires, it looka like they have six actual plies. I don't think many tires are going to top that. They might have thicker, tougher plies (creating additional "ply strength equivalent" for load rating), but not likely to have more actual layers.

They do not have the snowflake rating. I am very curious about this as well, as I bought the truck just as it stopped snowing. I think they will be fine, but have no doubt that Grabbers, KO2s, or Duratracs would perform better.

The stupid fucking tires won't even drive over Spike Strips without getting punctured. Straight up garbage

It irritates me that they make this tire in the 'other trim' size of LT245/75R16 with an E rating and a snowflake but not in the OR 265/70 size. Of course it is more expensive but I wonder if that wouldn't be a good choice for the thicker sidewalls? Although like Smitty I can't seem to puncture these tires even though there are plenty of anecdotes out there of them failing from light duty. I agree that this tire size is ideal for airing down but no tire manufacture seems to agree with that since nobody makes a decent LT off road tire in this size. All we get are highway tires more suited to Hyundai crossovers.

I don't understand the conflicting reports on the KO2s. Some people swear by them and some people say they are garbage. I have no idea what to get when the stock tires need replacing.

Why'd you move from maxx to pros? Thinking about getting into the coopers, but curious on the pros and cons between the two.

I wanted more sidewall bite and a more aggressive tire for off-roading in general.

The Maxx is a great tire. The pro is more agressive but it's LOUD

Went out last weekend with some light rain and they struggled on some muddy uphills while failing completely on the sectons with holes.

Still dont know what to upgrade too.

I haven't had mine off-road yet because I am still waiting on all of my armor to arrive. I will keep them until they need to be replaced but I have recently been looking at
Hankook Dynapro RF10 because they seem to have a good balance between off-road capability and on-road capability and isn't the most expensive tire on the market. I want to have fun on the trails on the weekends but I also don't want a really rough ride to work everyday with bad gas mileage. Is anyone running them? I don't think I will pay $1,000 for a set of KO2s.

I upgraded to the Hankook Dynapro 265/75/16 on my 2011 Tacoma. Don't know about mud but tire performed great on road and in desert and snow conditions. Tread is similar to Cooper AT/3. I liked that they were light and did not seem to affect mileage or power. I took my chances with a standard load sidewall. Up and over Elephant Hill several times with them with no issues. Just keep them balanced, rotated because they will get loud if they cup.
